The Slaves Return

Their faces are bright and shining, they're full of festive fun
Come on my team there is as always some work to be done
Daphnie and Sue please stop chatting, please give me a rest
I don't want to hear yet again about whose turkey tasted best
Kelsey love I understand that he's given you the flick yet again
But there's no need to re run your tales of suffering and pain
Mel if you flash that bit of mistletoe about just one more time
I'll have to show you this rude but clearly unmistakable sign

Jan dear girl don't sit there and dream about snow all day
It'll snow for certain tomorrow or so the weather man did say
Fran and Pat sit down and stop fidgeting all about the place
Yes it is irriating to me now please just join us in works race
Delia we've heard in detail about the beautiful present you got
And yes we all envy you dear girl we'd have all liked it a lot
Thank you everyone I had a marvelous time working away
Oh yes team I too can't think of a nicer way to spend the day

I was being sarcastic team it isn't much fun to be here alone
Yes it is really vital, someone has to be here with the phone
There are compensations not very many but there are a few
I know I've got one, there's the beautiful and peaceful view
Where else would I get the picture postcard scene I can see
I can't think of anywhere else at all that I'd really rather be
Oh and yes the dinner that the canteen saw as fit to serve up
It was interesting yes, I'd actually have some soup in a cup

Now this is called making the best of a bad situation! I feel sorry for everyone who had to go back to work right after the holiday. I think everyone should have the week off...with pay!! Cute poem, Marsha!

Denise, it was either write a poem or strangle the lot of them. And I just know that the magistrate would treat me harshly. Not knowing how difficult it was to keep my temper.
Thank you kindly
Take care

I know how you feel.  I had to go back to work that day as well.  Nothing like dealing with several hundred screaming women to make your holiday!!

Great poem.

Dear Marsha, I know just how you feel,
But, please, let me explain.
It isn't in my soul to work today,
When I think of you alone again.

Dear Marsha, you are so much more than that,
Not Draconian or a Martinet.
I suspect you are a softy,
Who is the object of their respect.

Passions Voice, thank you, then you know exactly how I feel. (Full to the brim with festive spirit  ) Not. It's not that I mind, I don't, someone has to be here and it might as well be me. But I wonder if they have to rub it in quite so hard that they had a fabulous break from work.
Take care

LngJhnAg, you think so really, I'm a wicked witch. I beat then all on a regular basis. It's the only way to maintain disciplin. But they only really worry when I get the leg irons out. (That's because it means they're going to be late down at the pub, which naturally means they'll get stuffed with the bill.)
Thank you
Take care

Kethry love, you have? Well in that case how about you come and do a few shifts so I could get some serious sleeping in. (At this rate I'll be too tired to enjoy my New Year dinner party.) I'll be droopy and falling asleep, now that's bound to be a real conversation stopper isn't it.
Take care kid
