It’s an undercurrent; a fervor,
tossed to the far reaches of your fancy
you hold on, but you can’t open your eyes,
and you follow it, as a kite in the wind,
as a feather floats,
and you begin to sail.

In the beginning, you resist it,
but with the first touch
you leave the ground,
and everything dead,
and your wings stretch,
you smile, knowing,
that you’ve always flown,
silently,  and alone.

Now, you fly with hands held;
together and you share
and you fall into a downward spiral,
until the compass is dropped.
the air is pure and mellow,
each stroke is a spin in the right direction
and…..

Oh my!

You erupt in a prism of color
ribbed waves quench,
a waterfall bubbles over,
and you cry because
you are collected,
and living now,
in motley patches where you rest,
and you still hold on
for your colorvision has been restored
and love has met clarity
in tones that defy recounting…

and it rushes until you fill.

I don't know how this well written jewell got by the first board ....but yes, Emily, life and love is like that and you've written about it so wonderfully here and as I mellow out some myself I realize that there are still so many things to enjoy from another perspective.   Welcome to Passions!  ethome

This is a wonderful poem, beautifully describing the terror and beauty that can come with the undercurrent of love. Thanks for sharing.
