"Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house...
not a creature was stirring, except for that mouse!
The ripped Christmas wrappings lay strewn on the floor...
just begging for me to remove them once more...

The tinsel and garlands I'd hung with such care,
were lying in pieces and most everywhere...
The tree seemed to call out:
"Hey, look...I am dead...
and now, on your carpet,
my needles I'll shed"...

The kitchen kept tenderly calling my name...
I tried to ignore it,
but couldn't refrain...
from gazing upon such disaster
and ruin...
I knew I had better get started,
real soon!

There were dishes and glasses and dried,
baked-on grime...
and it might take forever to bring back
the shine...
Not to mention the bathroom, the bedrooms,
and den...
What a horrible state my small castle was in!

So, I cleaned and I straightened,
and I put things away...
And I'm sitting here writing this,
hoping to say...
As a housewife, I want to make one thing
real clear...
~~~I LOVE CHRISTMAS~~~
but I'm glad it just comes once a year!!
My love goes out to all my fellow poets here at Passions on this Holiday Season.  May your hearts be full of peace, joy, and thoughts that will carry over into our New Year!
Hi lil sis, Now that is a consolation to me, at least I haven't got loads of clearing up to do. I knew there was a silver lining somewhere, and in working over Christmas the house isn't messy at all.
This is wonderful love, and I hope your dreams all come true in the new year.
Take care love
Same to you Sunny1...now where's that good fairy....
Me, I did all the cooking; dinner, pie, fruit cake, etc., and part of the dishes...the rest was up to the rest of the family! And the house still looks catastrophic...execept the kitchen...of course.
Judging from the description of your castle then I would say that you had a little fun yesterday and well deserved.  Christmas is a good time of the year and though I am glad that it only comes once a year also, I would love to have all the good spirit and love of the season year round.  Have a safe and wonderful NEW YEAR my sweet sis.
~~~ Hi Bubbles ~~~
Ah yes.......there are some benefits to working!!  On the other hand, it's not a bad feeling to see the mess, especially if it represents some family time together!!
Happy New Year, sis!!!

~~~ Rex ~~~
Hang on.......I'll go get the dish towel!!
(You wash........I'll dry!!)
~~~ jwesley ~~~
Oh, but you certainly had your hands full, and just for that, I'll come over and clean up the rest of your house. I used to own a "Good Fairy" maid service!!

~~~ Mark ~~~
I was expecting you for dessert yesterday, but oh well..........I saved you a big fat piece of pie, with home-made ice cream!!
You have a wonderful New Year's, and I'm sending all my sisterly hugs your way!!
~~~ Balladeer ~~~
Oh, yes.........there will be many more messes to keep me busy, in between writing, I think!!  The more I write, the less important housework seems!! Ha!! Happy New Year, Michael!!!

Sunny, the pile will wait, so far I have never seen the maid come and clean it before I get to it.
Great fun poem. Hope your day was nice.
Write to me, girlfriend.

Oh my.....you and I both have malfunctioning ovens!!  Mine doesn't work at all!! It's amazing what you can do with a crockpot!! Thank you for stopping by, and here's wishing you a Happy New Year!!

~~~ Sandra ~~~
Hey, if I lived on your half of the US, I'd sneak over there and help you out with the housework!! Maybe I'm weird, but I love to clean!!  Happy New Year, my dear friend!!
