Bah Humbug

Neither saint nor sinners are born
Chance is the deity to scorn
Winners and losers are all thrust
Back to the earth where all is dust.

In between lies nought but caprice
Ambergris of the altarpiece.
The answer lies in the star
And the door is still ajar.

We're partial of an ordinance
Part and parcel of a sequence.
Dance within a mercurial trance
In the nuance of fickle chance.

Unknown to unknown we are born
A light for a moment then gone.
Little chance for ambience, It's
Silence to violence to silence.

And whatever we believe of belief
Eternity is the only relief.
