Between a laugh and a tear...

0 posted 2000-12-23 08:15 PM

I see the young lovers as I walk by
Barefoot they dance in the sand
Oblivious to the world around them
As they enjoy the simple pleasures of life

There too I see the elderly couple
Waves lap their feet as they frolic in the surf
Hand in hand they walk, sharing gentle smiles
Reminiscing their life's loving moments

And then there are the secret lovers!
On the bench overlooking the beach
Ever so careful among the crowd
Their eyes meet revealing their love

And I quietly walk on by

Alone!

Ok first thing you need to do is quit watching the couples. Find the one who
is walking alone, like yourself. Then together ya'll can walk into the sunset.

Eagle One, This is soooo full of feelings, and it's tremendously visual, I really love this one, beautifully written.
Take care

*sigh* this is a feeling I know well. Alone, but love lives and breathes in my fantasies. I guess it is just a matter of time before love finds us. *grin* at least that is what they tell me. Still sitting here watching a fire by myself is no fun at all. This was very beautiful and filled with familiar sadness. Much love and Christmas hugs to you from me.

Love I leave with you my friend whether it be in your life or of yet the essense of your dreams. http://path2riches.com

Of course you know the music and the words of another are now coursing through my brain...

but this I liked!...

You are a very observant people watcher!
And I understand this mood of melancholy detachment...very nice work, Mr. Eagle! I felt liked I walked every step of the way.

inot2B ~ Loved your reply, brought me a smile and for that I do thank you.   And yes, wise words too!

Marsha ~ It pleases me to know you enjoy my work, as always I  thank you.

Startime ~ You obviously understand this feeling very well and to be truthful that saddens me some. No one should have to sit by the fire alone! Take care!

Kit ~ wonderful to see you as I haven't been around all that much of late.  Yes it's nice to know that sometimes the love can last.    Glad you enjoyed!

Sunshine ~ It is indeed an honour to know you enjoyed!

Serenity ~ Mr Eagle!!! Gee that's rather formal…lol . Its amazing what you can see sometimes, all you need to do is open your eyes.   Your comments are always appreciated, thankyou!

Marge ~ A simple thankyou doesn't seem to be enough!

Richard ~ It saddens me to know so many can relate. . I thankyou, take care.

Ethome ~ I appreciate you taking the time to add your comments. It was a difficult feeling to try and convey. As for being alone, well who knows what tommorrow holds in store.

Janet ~ Any beach is the wrong beach, way too close to the sharks for me…lol. Who was it that said go out and make your own destiny?..I may just have to try that   Always a pleasure to have you stop by.  Take care my friend.

Paula ~ I don't normally give up easily!

Fellow Eagle, I see you favor the beach. In your picture, I think I can make out the a bit of the ocean's horizon in the background. Were you not at the beach when that picture was taken? Keep chilling at the beach, my friend, and one day, you will meet someone there, as alone as you are.

Will you come travel with me? Shall we stick by each other as long as we live?

If I were the flirting kind, (which I am not!) I would say you should never walk alone, but I won't say that, I will just say this reminded me of a song by Dionne Warwick entitled "Walk on By!"  and I love it, the song and the poem!!!!!

Butterfly ~ I would never dream of arguing with you, I know better  . And don't worry, I never walk alone for long, I just have to look into my heart to realize that.  Take care my friend.

passing shadows ~ Yes it can, and I feel your pain. Take care!

EagleScorpion ~ Not so much that  I favor the beach, just happened to be there.

Irish Rose ~ I try not to walk alone   And yes I know that song too.  It is pleasing to know you enjoyed this, I thank you.

EagleOne,

Hey you!  This one had a hint of lonliness in there.  My friend, YOU are never alone.  Remember that when you are walking.

LW ~ Yes there was, got me on a bad day! I know, and thankyou.    take care my friend!
