I have a friend and her daughter 13 years old has suffered a massive stroke. She is in very bad shape. She has lost all motor functions. The doctors say she don’t have lots of time left.
Her MOM and sisters need lots of prayers and support. Can you think of what it must be like to have this happen to one of your kids.
Her Mom asked me to write a poem for her daughter. I am at a loss of what or how to write this poem. Here are a couple of starts. Please tell me what you think.

Thanks Love and light,
Richard

Brightest Star
By Richard Maxfield

Brightest star
Shinning bright
Aluminates
The darkest night

Shinning through
Though clouds surround
With sprinkles of love
Raining down

Touching hearts
With brilliant gold
Giving love
For all to hold

My brightest star
Will always shine
Bring warmth
To this heart of mine

Special One
By Richard Maxfield

Very few such souls
Does God make
To spread his love
For mortals sake

With special care
He created you
For just a job
Only you can do

He let you go
For just a while
To spread his joy
Bring a smile

In my hands
His special one
To love and hold
My shinning sun

First smile seen
On shinning face
Forever earned
Your loving place

My friend.  I agree, both are good, but since you've not yet chosen what to present, try writing one from the childs perspective as another choice; if you know her, what do you think she'd want to say at a time like this if she could, both to her parents, (relatives) and friends. What would be her thoughts, her passions, her desires for the one's she'll leave behind. What does she see ahead. And remember, it doesn't have to rhyme, especially now, so leave that option open too; it may, in fac, be easier to just write, as if in a letter, then pick what you want, and how you want to say it. Matter of fact, just ramble on about anything you can think of about her, whether it's from her view or another's...then pick what you want to finalize from all you've gathered.

Just some thoughts...

Richard, both beautiful and wonderful poems, I couldn't choose they are lovely. All I can suggest is that you ask for prayers for her. Prayers are powerful things, and there are so many here who could help. I will light a candle for her in our hospital chapel. It always has someone in there, it's a busy little place.
Take care

Richard, they are both lovely and the real beauty behind them is the caring that is behind the pen.  No matter if you choose one of these or pen another, as long as you put your heart in it then the poem will touch the lives of those around her.  My prayers for sure to this family and for the girl and to you as well.  What they have asked you to do is never easy but I can see already that you have given a ray of love in the matter.

both are very beautiful and heartfelt richard..
..it is what you put behind the poem, that makes it most special--your heart, your love, your caring....and youve certainly put all that into these poems

hugs..to you and them, g
