In Nine, will Love come?

In nines, they say, they the
crones of girlish yesterday
say that I, me,
this winsome lass
shall know nine decades
come to pass

now, what shall I then
do with nine?
most cumbersome be,
then most probably
shall presumably lose my mind!

all I shall ask, nay, all that I ask
is to see love but once, nay
not twice, nor thrice, but
once, blessed he be then
with sight of me

...womanly...

old crones say nine, nine
lives doth a woman have
infant, babe, girl, youth,
lass, female, woman,
matron, sage…all
enclosing one great age

and love might come to
one, or all, …or none

but one love, Lord, one
love to transcend the night
into day's light
of delicate delight
is all I request of thee…

of nine lives that I
might have

send just one, one
true lad

one love, one kiss
then Lord, see! this
essential bliss
and conclude in his
giving the
eternal mystery
to live,
to love,
this love
to live

if I had but one
then the nine might
flee away
for he shall stay
he, this One

he shall see me
in copper light
in moon of night
in his soul
and not feel the toll
of life
nor strife
but relief
for right in his path
shall I stand
take his hand
at God's command
he will know
'tis to be so

and when he
shall
come to me

this love I have
to give to him
lonesome whim
it is not,
my body swells in
unrelenting force
no remorse for
being born a
woman

not even
if I
see him
in nine.

Karilea, you have quickly become one of my favorite reads on this site!!!

one love, one kiss

to live,
to love,
this love
to live

I adore this...methinks you write with ink made of talcum...and your themes are so diverse these days...very intriguing and a treat to read!!!

Original, well presented and well read.  One love is all we can ever really ask for, if there are more then it really couldn't be true love. The joining of two souls is forever.

If a dream touches us, it exists to us as anything else that touches us.

This is no seven (7), it is a ten (10). (Bo Derek eat your heart out.) Forgive me if I steal some thoughts from it for a future effort

*bowing*

Gracious lady, ageless and timeless
May I present to thee my words of praise?
Sitting there wrapped in such fineness
I would wish thee happiness all thy days

For thou hast but to ask one time
And thy wish shall indeed come true
And it will nay be in nine
Indeed, now will it come to you

For thou art the Sun warm and bright
The force that makes our lives whole
And in thee and thy bright light
Does indeed shine forever, thy soul. . .

Karilea, this is absolutey wonderful. . . superb, outstanding, amazing. . . have I run out of words yet??. . . and I must echo Jan and serenity when I say that your writing has indeed become even more wonderful to read. . . whoever your muse is. . . keep them!!!

Kari love, I'll give you nine, nine reasons why you are unique and perfect.

  1   Talented beyond measure
  2   Wise beyond your years
  3   Brighter than a treasue
  4   Sunlight banishes the fears
5   Poetic poise of superior grace
6   Poet pure and so full of light
7   Fair of form and fair of face
  8   Bathe within pure Sunlight
9   Kari the winner of lifes race

Truly wonderful love, you know I love this one. Take care
           Happy Christmas
                Majestic Marsha

Take back the hope you gave,- I claim
Only a memory of the same

sunshine...your wisdom shines brightly here. Yes, one - the right one - would make all the difference. You would think that, in nine decades, one would be simple to find..

funny how difficult that can be.

This poem is beautifully done...

This is such a beautiful piece. I love the style you used in this one. We all want to find that special someone, don't we? Maybe we should form a support group or something!
