Once she flew so free and high
Above the palest cerulean sky
Majestic as dawn’s entrance
Exquisite as Luna’s radiance

She wove stars within her hair
Her manner meek, mild and rare
Above a sapphire night she’d tenderly sway
Among cherubs she would gleefully play

Locks of ebony adorned ivory flesh
Eyes of onyx...lips of ruby mesh
Within the night she’s softly sing
No fairer angel had ever taken wing

Until her purity was put to the test
A devilish saint became her guest
Eyes of gold beckoned her to dance
His touch wove an intriguing trance

He whispered into her ebony hair
Swam seductively in her onyx stare
He held her ivory flesh close to him
She bore the shame of the seraphim

Her heavenly gifts had not been adjusted
For the urge of touch her body lusted
Sent from heaven’s gate within the night
She turned and walked from the light

With a tear upon her trembling chin
Her earthly walk was about to begin
She left her wings on heaven’s floor
To return to the clouds nevermore

Holly...the fallen angel...this is a beautifully told story...and reminds me of the turn-about of City of Angels...a movie I would watch again and again...

this my dear, belongs in my library, which I am sure meets with your approval?  Oh, thank you!

Oh what a wonderful thing metamorphis is when a butterfly changes to the beauty of an angel and kisses all that she touches.  This my friend was simply beautiful and the imagery you know I loved.  It truely shows just how far love can pull a heart when those strings are being played just right.  You have stepped up (or should I say flown) to a higher level in this one.

ButterfliesDC~

I think sometimes
as it has been shown
angels fly
without wings of their own

Wrapped so tightly within
the embracing wings of love
They soar to new heights
on another's wings - lifted far above

*Just a lovely and inspirational piece, dear poet.
Thank you.

Holly,
you know I love this right!? Well if not
you do. I adore this piece my friend.
Written with such exquisite imagery, but
I have come to expect no less from you and
your gifted pen. You write with such heart
and every line that you weave is pure
magic. Take care.

~Holly~

You must know by now that I LOVE angel themes!         The first few stanzas are beautifully penned with great imagery, I just love how you described the angel with such flair and uniqueness.  For some reason this poem has affected me in a different way than it did the others.  Yes, this is a beautiful tale, but, the ending was so sad and hopeless to me, especially the last stanza, it is very well written and hits the reader hard. I like poems that either start off with a happy beginning and a sad ending or vice versa, because it usually tends to have a great impact on the reader (they get to experience many emotions while reading the poem) - which is an excellent technique that you used.  I didn't see the angel as an innocent sacrificing her wings for love like the others did, instead, I saw the angel as a once beautiful angel who choose lust and guilty pleasures over God only to face the consequences for betraying Him for a mere moment's ecstasy, hence the "fallen angel" theme. So, through my rambling, the others view this poem as a love poem, and yet I see it as a bittersweet poem, in that she was once beautiful and pure and now because she allowed this "devilish saint" to seduce her she failed "the test" and she now weeps and "bore the shame of the seraphim" and must not "return to the clouds nevermore."  Basically I see it as a lust tale telling of the consequences. It's both beautifully fantasy-like and sad to me.  I absolutely loved this poem, don't worry I'm not criticizing it at all, in fact, I'm printing out a copy.  I am just wondering if I am not astute anymore because I am not in agreement with the other's opinions.  But then again, each poem is viewed differently by everyone and means something different to each reader, that's what makes poetry special.  Please submit this poem for the next Passions book!

Wonderful, my Butterfly!  Now I feel there is hope and happiness for the "fallen angel" in all of us.  It is lonesome being perfect, I've heard.  Always take time to share your beautiful thoughts with us.

So well written and sooooo sad.  Though this is fantasy, it has implications of true life.  Pure and gentle souls who give their lives to lust.  Actually this is more true to life than fantasy for angels truly are neither male nor female and do not make the choices like we.   But, I do believe there are souls on Earth who reflect the presence of such angels.  God Bless You,  Bob <><
