Antiquated Memories

in the passing of the photographs
from decade to decade to yet another
often the earliest pictures often show
father, mother, sister and brother

later on with the advent of youth
how naïve the innocent look of then
causes all of us to cast a glance at couth
and to know we look better in the when

so often have I pondered upon
the days of past and shed a tear
passed along the salt of worth
within me since before my birth

recording of time and much decision
no longer leaves a sense of derision
but strength in resolute character abounds
faded records of this we have found

and through all these memories
we glimpse a smile within of thee
a smile that would through trouble cast
a light by which to leave the past

someday in the records of we
our ancestors may see humility
in record of times as they were
this, as a legacy, stands for sure

very very cool ...
love the premise and inspirations of this ...
I used to love spending the day with my grandmothers looking at the old black and white photos ...
they are indeed treasures

I am so very honored and flattered to be an inspiration for such an awesome work of art here, Karilea! My heart has warmed up just reading these words and contemplating the thoughts. So indeed, you have inspired me! And for that I thank you.

Kari love, ah well it just shows what a little devil I am   here I am working away (Well supposedly and I'm skipping off of my screen to visit here) Actually it's what would otherwise be dead time, (this being a hospital that is what they call a freudian slip I think). And there's an amazing amount of it too. Well either that or I delegate,   no you're right I don't I should but by the time I've explained it I could have done it. which is another reason I'm nearly always here (at work) and not doing something far less productive.
This really is an amazingly wonderful piece from you.
Take care

Hi Sunshine! This is great! Makes me think, I'm the keeper of the antiques and photos in my family, and as they get passed down, it makes me wonder what they will think  when they see pictures of Great, great grandma Sue.....LOL they will probably say she was a dork!   -SEA
