how do I show myself to you?
with what colors will I paint this portriat?
will I use colors that are bold?
golds and reds in heroic strokes
telling the story of the Knight?
I could paint myself that way
but that's not who I am

how do I show myself to you?
with what colors will I paint this portrait?
will I use colors that are soft?
muted tones of gray and green
showing the softer side of myself?
I could paint myself that way
but that's not who I am

how do I show myself to you?
with what colors will I paint this portrait?
will I use colors that are dark?
blacks and blues of darkest night
the side that I don't want you to see?
I could paint myself that way
but that's not who I am

how do I show myself to you?
with what colors will I paint this portrait?
I will use all the colors you see
golds and reds, grays and greens, blacks and blues
for I am bold and soft, but also dark
they are all the sides of this artist
they are who I really am

SVEN, this is awesome my friend...
Totally captivating in every word you penned...

I dunno how you do it sweetie but you do it so well...

And let us not forget the color purple for courage and passion to blend amongst the many colors in this portrait of a Poet named Sven...

I've tried to find the words that explain how I feel about your poem. Its not easy when trying to write about someone as complex as you.

A storm gathers in the sky full of darkness in minutes it is gone leaving soft clouds floating on a sky of blue . Thats the picture I see when I think of you!

Congratulations on your 5000th post. You have articulated carefully the nuances of many poets here...but you are truly worthy when you can see the inside of you, and splay it out for the rest of us to see inside the man who saw inside of us...

well done...very well done...

Sven, CONGRATULATIONS on 5,000, and in each one, in every single line, in each letter, you reveal the talent and the wonder that is Sven. There are so many brilliant and talented poets here, each one brings something that is uniquely his or her own. You are in the elite of these marvellously talented poets, among the top ten per cent. You have described other poets beautifully, Your work touches more people than you know. And you are utterly amazing.
Take care

Sven,

I think you just figured out how to show us.  I love the imagery of the colors blending together to form a portrait.  Well done.

Sven,
For all the subtle meanings found in the word so true
I do believe "gentle-man" best applies to you.
But if I must use colors it seems that I will find
The colors of the sunset firstly spring to mind
The deep red of compassion that shows a heart so true
But gentleness is found in gold that streaking through.
The velvet of the starlight shows your winsome charm
And silver of the moonlight shows strength within your arm.
No my friend too much of you to capture in one line
Together they made a picture,of Sven who is sublime.
