I didn’t know you as a child
We’ve both our maturity achieved
Unknown to one another
It makes me sad and grieved

You didn’t know me as a callow youth
Saw through the crassness of my testosterone
Never had the opportunity
To realize the man I would become

So – beyond the chance to share a beach
Climb a rocky crag to pristine lake
Follow colored canyons deep
How the landscape God did make

Where we might hug the silence
Breath nature’s scents and air so clear
Watch life-mated geese living in peace
Or feel the serenity of deer

I want with you the intimacy
To share the deepest thoughts
The dreams unrealized and met
See how life wrought what’s wrought

To spend our days while life is ours
Exploring pains and joys
Those we’ve met and those we’ve passed
Our crosses and our toys

Yet I want more, hope you do too
To kneed the grief, caress the face
Matured by life’s transgressions
Learn how you achieved such grace

In golden stream of deep twilight
Closing twilight’s end of day
The pleasures of the coming night
At time’s end I want to say

I want to be with you.

There are places inside our souls -
that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.

I would rather a man who has already sowed his oats than one I'd have to train. If I wasn't already taken your kind is what I'd want.

Mr. Yeats, so glad to see you come back to us in fine measure...this is a keeper...I have finally figured it out...for each annex I add on to my library, they are going to have to be named for the Poets...

Yes, this is wonderful!  Well done Sir!

*sigh* this is a very lucky lady you write of love to. You offer mature love filled with mutual sharing. To share what has been learned through living life and moving on with lessons learned. *sigh* this is real love that you offer from your heart. I hope she hears your plea and gives love back in kind. *sigh* this is a truly beautiful poem. Much love to you from me.

Have to agree with Martie here Bill you do write a wonderful love poem...always filled with such a beautiful seasoned aspect of love in it's most refined degree...just great!! Lucky lady hope she responds even if she has to fall directly out of your dreams.... take care     ethome

my oh my what a sweet read...
with age comes the beauty of wisdom and grace.
this is lovely and sincere ...
hope your feeling better sweet sir ...

Some people find subtlety in strangers
if you find anything~let me in
Your eyes~you see everything
my eyes~I see it all together now~and I know

You know...you know how hard it is for me to respond to you when you write so beautifully...you leave me breathless...what a lucky lady
