                Nightmare

The door quietly closes,
as I fall against the window.
My body is weak, and my mind is numb.

I catch the crystal drops
one by one, as they fall
where moments before you told me good-bye
and unveiled the nightmare
that I've lived in terror of.

Maybe I'm really dead.
Maybe every sense and emotion within me
as ceased.

I look around for tall trees
and granite stones
but can only see the emptiness of my room.
My room,
you once filled with fullness and warmth.
My eyes,
you once filled with smiles and stars.
And my body,
you once filled with the scarlet desire of you.

I am paralyzed.
I am lost.
I want to scream.
I want to go crazy.
I want to go insane.

Let them take me away.
Let me die in this hellish macabre.
I look at my face,
patches of red ferment on my skin
like blood, where tears have made their path
in morbid figurines.

...God, how ugly.

It is never easy hearing that good-bye and the pain seems so overwhelming that nothing seems real anymore.  You have penned a heartwrenching piece but the pain does go away eventually and the sunshine will come back.  Wonderful penning as it showed the anguish well.

Ouch, that is a very painful scenario. (stop watching me and Ken, ok??)

This reminds me of times when I leaned against the door and felt so lonely and empty over a relationship that wasn't working out so well...James

John,
I guess to have the beauty in dreams, we must endure the sorrow of nightmares. Or just go back in time to that fairytale world, where only dreams are beheld.  Let me know if you find a way to do that! Thanks for the kind words.
      Much love,  Elise

James,
Thanks for the reply. I hope you won't be leaning against anymore doors feeling the pain. May you find a new door that opens into the beauty that you once lost.
       Much love,  Elise

*sigh* I can completely relate to the feelings in this one. It is our dreams that seem to give us the hope to go on. Much love to you from me.
