Near golden sunsets

Unfettered dreams in night's slow passing
Darkness reigning, shadows massing
Stars unfurled in blackened oceans
Winking, twinkling in lustrous motion
Nocturnal creatures hunt their prey
Fearing, loathing the light of day
Striped tail, masked face
Peer out from behind that darkened space
Bright black eyes, humor glinting
Watch you all in wonder writing
Sharp tooth shimmers in moonbeam's rays
Gray furred body no longer stays
Retreats he to his dark abode
To dream his dreams of thoughts untold

Wow, this was great.  I felt like I had a pair of binoculars and was pearing into the forrest.  Now, I have to say, and please pardon me if this is wrong it's been a rough day, I'm picturing a raccoon. Good job MI.

Saxoness- You hit me right on the nose, raccoons are me favorites.

Startime- Did I mention the raccoon is my spirit animal?  I'm in a tribe (through a Scout Camp, but close enough) if you couldn't tell by my picture.

Tom- You know now that since you gave me your permission, you're never going to get rid of me?

Richard- Thanks for the kind words. May you enjoy others just as much.

Karen-
I miss the trees.  All I've got here is ice covered concrete buildings.  Thanks for reading.
