Songs of the Chirp

I still listen to
songs of the Chirp,
but the effect is peculiar,
perceived sound
overlaid in past-tense voices,
not over-dubbed,
but ghost tracks –
scratching
the flip side of second-hand vinyl,
an involuntary catch,
my frozen time -
when I took your lines
and pressed them into
musical memory.

Joni sings of walls hummin’
and bands that sound like typewriters,
as the echoes fade, I clear;
you never had a heart to lose,
and I was just
an insignificant other
to be rescued
by some old familiar tune.

This one has a lot to say, Corinne, a lot to say and well worth the read.  Thanks for posting it!

Sounds like you and Joni make the perfect duet my friend.  So how have you been and where the heck have you been.  No, don't answer that!!!!  It was just wonderful to see one of your pieces pop up here today and I will be thankful for that.  You are most definitely NOT an "UNSIGNIFICANT" other and your tune will always be welcomed here as I for one truely enjoy your melody.

Thank you, Irish Rose, I always enjoy reading your work as well, as though we're kin!

Mark, thank you so much for the warm welcome, brought a smile to my lips!  I've been overtaken by life, working, raising kids, a new relationship, the holidays, not much time for writing, but I try to sneek one in now and then.

Thank you, Park!  "The Chirp" is Joni Mitchell's nickname.
