Copper Moments

brilliant they are
shiny penny bright
~ pliable but lasting ~
takes me through
the night

copper memories
were tapped out in
lasting tribute from
Dad’s hands in the
silhouette of the
copper dog’s
face, my
only
bit
of

Dad

he
took
hands of
leather and
crafted before
I was a gleam in
his eye, a shepherd
dog’s head in copper
craft and lended to
it an awesome
mask of old
world and
majestic
scheme
a sight
of

dream

I
was
born
and saw
it adorn the
room of my birth
it gave me root and
worth, and the copper
gleam shone in moonbeam
a light of awe, uncanny delight
of orangeish fright when first
the child was I ~ but father
said “no, it just has a
glow of life about
it and you will
not be in
fright
of it
for
it
is
I”

&

now
it is a
daily bit
a treasure
as I cast my eye
on the eye of the dog
and wonder aloud at my
father’s artistic bent and
wonder where the art
went, perhaps a bit
was left in my
pen, do you
reckon or
not?

Kari, is it ever, utterly terrific, a wonderfully warm and beautiful piece from you. I love this one too, (My C A coming up, it's got a perfect form, the words fall like drops of rain refreshing the soul as they fall into it. It has artistry of a kind rarely seen it is superb and delightful. So hows that for C A   ) Can I have a Kari smile for effort at least.
Take care

Ah, the time to answer is now...I look upon this wonderful Shepherd...his eye looks back...

yuh Walt...Dad did leave me "something"...thanks my friend....

Marsha love, you shall always have my smiles....always...thank you

'Deer...the moment shall stay copper...for I shall keep this and the frame forever...only the words might be golden...thank you...

Sven...of course...you believe in dreams...

Marge...how like you, to lift me UP!...I look at this, and see the Indian heritage in his soul...below it, I have hanging a dreamcatcher and a hawk's feather...turquoise and white beads...the truth shall live...forever...

piece.

Mr. Yeats, I will always have my memories...woe to the person or circumstance that takes them away...

Brian...so neat that you had time to visit this one...as I look back at this piece, I see that I captured, unintentionally, a bit of the shape of awl that my father use to use in his artwork...he had wonderful carpenter's hands...thank you...
