The rain pours down in sheets upon my windowpane…
The stars are hiding, trying to keep dry…
And someone took the moon up to a drier plane…
Tonight we’re here alone,
the rain and I…

I’ve always thought that rain had such a peaceful sound…
Especially on those nights when thoughts run deep…
To lie and listen is a pastime I have found
helps ease my troubled soul
into it’s sleep…

Listening to the rain fall down above my head,
just floods my mind with memories of lost youth…
And as I lie here nestled in my lonely bed,
it’s hard to tell the daydreams,
from the truth…

Soon my thoughts have softened,
sleep has numbed my brain…
As I succumb to dreams that lie in store…
Another night that I’ve been lulled by falling rain…
and rocked within it’s cradle as it pours…

Surely a gentle rain can do as much to soothe the weary soul.  Lovely images!

Good morning Sunny,

A'hhhh the "Rain", the "Rain", as it falls on the windowpane of hearts. Lovely written as you always do.

Yes, we're supposed to have a cold rain here in Indiana any day, this will help!

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.

Good morning, Bill......
Yes......the rain does fall down upon the windowpanes of the heart, but it also washes away the lingering dust of hurt and pain, and with it comes a brand new fresh start!
Thank you, Bill...

Hi Interloper......
I see that you know that song, too!! I spend a lot of time listening to the rain, but today we are blessed with sunshine!! Thank you for stopping by!

Hi Victoria......
I love that lullaby, too. It puts me in a slumber mood, and my dreams are usually happy ones when it's raining outside. Thank you for joining me here!!

Hi Irish Rose.....(you snuck in on me!!)
Well, I guess it is the time of year for Mother Nature to wash things down. I used to visit Indiana every summer when my Grandparents were living in Evansville. It is quite a beautiful state.  Good to see you today........

Oh Sunny ... you've captured this so beautifully. I too enjoy the rhythmic sound of the rain ... it takes my mind to lovely places, and eventually to slumber. Very much enjoyed this!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Hi Kit....
Ahhhh......another rain-person!! Yes, I love to close my eyes and let the sound overtake my weary head at the end of the day. Sometimes I dream of being in a tropical place, where the rain is warm...here in Alaska it's not that warm, although I live in the heart of a tropical rainforest!! Ha!!
Thank you for coming by to read and for your nice reply, my friend!!

Yeppers, seen as only my sister can see.  What a wonderful piece from you my sweet sister and I am so very happy that I found this treasure of yours.  Sounds as if that is a trait that runs in the family.

I love to listen to the rain at night. This is a wonderful nature poem, you have such an appreciation of everything.
You deserve to have more happiness, with all the beauty you see in the world.
