There’s no snow on the ground
Nothing wrapped in the house
Still some signs are appearing
Cards stealing in like a mouse

But the spirit is lacking
I just feel ennui
Can’t seem to raise it
Oh where can it be?

I know I’ll have to bring some
Can’t rely on another
For soon rooms will be crowded
By daughter and brother

Wife is busy as can be
But I’ve papers to grade
Today’s Breakfast with Santa
All I want is some shade

I did my buying
In October past
Still have to wrap them
But that can be done fast

I want mistletoe
And the tree gaily lighted
Fingers tugging on knee
“Pop-pop is it the night yet?”

I don’t need an excuse
To kiss anytime
For the kids will be here
Just a change in my clime

If it were white out
Maybe music will play
And I won’t hear the din
Of what candidates say

Let’s play Paveroti,
Crosby’s popular still
Hear Frosty and Rudolph
Maybe I’ll feel the thrill

I’m avoiding the issue
It’s not what but who
What’s wrong with this Christmas?
It’s the absense of you!

There are places inside our souls -
that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.

oh bill..you write my heart with this one..
I just cant get into it this year ...
but this is one cute and clever lil scrooge confession
made me smile when I read it ...and it aint snowing here neither..

Listening to every heart

if we bring some cheering song
and a mug of warming drink "Glug"
and come to you with Christmas Cheer
can we stay the rest of the year?

perhaps its the given age
which sets the wayward stage
of knowing when the paper's torn
we're left weary, perhaps forlorn

so much in a kiss's anticipation
so much too, this momentous celebration
we forget to honor this, Christ's birth
and feel the speeding by of Earth

so Mr. Yeats, if we all come on by
might we sit and chat, maybe sigh
at what's been learned of what we give
and in that, then toast to how we live...

now hear the bustle, it's coming fast
now go make memories, for they shall last...

Hugs to you...

If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

You've expressed this beautifully Wilfred ... and such a lovely and tender conclusion.

Now Hey! I've got snow and Christmas spirit overflowing today up here ... I'm sending some your way!!!

Best wishes,
/Kit

15 days - and counting - and I'm still a momentary visitor to these warm comforting 'halls'. Again, let me offer my simple sincere thanks - until I'm able to 'sit up' longer. Your words warm my heart

Bill,
I got the cure... What you need is 5 extra girls... Nothing like getting reminded every 5 minutes or so... Just send me your address and I'll send them right over... I might could get some things done. LOL

FLASH, latest update: 3 say it's 13_ 2 say it's 12... I can't tell which way their counting from... But if I don't get some typing done these cards are just gonna be late. Why do I feel like I'm writing bill's (that's a pun Bill) I pray there's no late charge.

Wil, Excellent write. May I add? (I'm gonna anyway)
Where is Christmas, not round here
although my house is filled with cheer
presents wrapped the lights are up
with my neighbours I have supped
heard good wishes, trimmed the tree
but there's no Christmas here for me
I wait for love and sadly say
for me no hope in Christmas day
but what's that light I see afar
could it be shining from the star
that heralded the saviour's birth
who came to bring goodwill to earth
it is it is, now I can start
to celebrate Christmas here in my heart.
