Deep in the heart

Still alive
After all that excitement and horror.
Praying that I would live
To see the sunrise.
                      Dear God,
Don’t let that mortar round
Hit me.
Let it fall over there
                        Somewhere.

The shooting has stopped.
Now the sun has risen.
We can see to help
Our buddies.
One is dead
From a mortar round.
                       Direct hit.

Did my prayer kill him?

You seem to have alot on your mind tonight. No your prayers didn't hurt anyone, they just kept you safe. If it was your turn then you would of gone. Thank goodness we are blessed to have you safe.

SEA~
An image that has never gone away.  The nightmares have gone but not the memory.  I have one other that is struggling to get out.  Don't know if I can do it or not.

You are gracious and kind.  Thank you.

InterLoper~
I felt your anguish in this piece -
memories exploding within -
Such feelings are sometimes diminished when shared ...
This piece is powerfully poignant.

You my not like this reply, but  I don't think your prayr kept you safe any more than it hurt him. All things happen as they should. God may here prayer, but he dose what fits in to his plane. I realy liked the pice keep posting.

Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it’s the middle that counts.

I agree with Raleigh...I know that's uncreative for a response, but that's how I feel.  Very heart-wrenching..

As untimely as it seems sometimes, we all have an appointed time to die.
Have no guilt, for I am sure it's in God's  plan that you are still here.
Hugs,
Deb

Interloper,

I have to agree with what the rest have said in their replies.  God kept you here for a reason.  I hope you can overcome the memories and guilt that haunt you.  I for one am glad you are here to share your wonderful gift of poetry.  ~Warm hugs~ to you.

Don't we oft times wonder what our prayers may result in...perhaps for those who do not believe in a higher power, the adage "be careful what you wish for" suits them better...

powerful stuff...I hope you are well...

Marge~
Thanks for understanding.  I needed to get this out.

raleighbttrfly~
Thank you.  I take no offense.

BWA~
Thank you.

BloomingRose~
That is just what I was trying to say, though not very well.  Ask the question "Did I pray harder that him?"

rosepetals25~
I have no guilt anymore.  That incident happened within 4 hours of my entering the country.  Lots of water under the bridge during the next 18 months.

Yes, my queen, I am well.  But, purely on a selfish note, will you write me a Haiku anyway

Interloper...I've read this piece several times...I love this piece and have many questions for you...mind if I "e" you, or feel free to "e" me?  This is excellent and brings up diverse puzzlements for me.

It is so hard to say a prayer and then say, " Thy will be done".  I guess we just shouldn't question how HE answers the prayer.  Let this load go.
