Dream Weaver’s Night to Remember
Karen Torbiak
2000

She stands enveloped
in the black
velvet softness
of the night

The gentle breeze
lifts auburn locks
to blow gently across a face
of serene beauty

Her perfect form is wrapped
in a flowing turquoise gown
as soft and delicate
as a butterfly’s wings

Her gaze is drawn upward
to the heavens
and her lips part slightly
with awe at the power shown
in this great expanse

The brilliant twinkle
of the stars blink
a pattern of music
keeping time
to the beat of her heart

On this clear moonless night
she dreams a dream
in her very soul
of one strong enough
to make her his

A star streaks across the sky
as she grabs hold
with her eyes
and sends a wish on high

Though this night is moonless
she can see the shape
of rolling hills before her

There seems to be
a brightening of light
forming beyond the closest hill

She feels only a sense of question
for this is her world and in it
there is no room for the fears
that haunt mankind

As she moves towards the light
her heart skips a beat
as if in response
to something her soul finds familiar

Walking to the rise of the hill
she sees the outline of a man
approaching from the far
side of the hill

The light seems to emanate from him
casting a soft golden glow
all around him
as he moves forward

With a gasp of surprise she soul
reaches out to touch he whom
it has known through all time

As their eyes lock
in recognition
they are both flooded
in the golden light
filling them with a warmth
of contentment

Drawing close they embrace
with such natural ease
that if observed one would
think they had been one forever

Firm lips descend on hers
laying claim to the sweet purity
which is hers alone to give

The velvety softness
of the night
enfolds this pair as they share
the fulfillment of a love
long desired from their souls

She feels the strength of him
enter her, accepting the gift
she has offered
as these two become one
in the dance of love

Afterwards with a smile
of softest contentment
she lies in the protective
circle of his arms
knowing it was for him
she was created

Opening her eyes
upon the darkness
of the night she finds
herself alone
but she smiles for
Dream Weaver has again
given her vision of eternal love
and it will be a night
she’ll remember
