It occurred to me
   here
playing in the dusk
facing the window
and empty inside
how devoid I am.

I kicked you out
truly
you won’t believe this
because you are so damn loveable.

Isn’t that right?
Isn’t it impossible for anyone
not to love you?

But, really, I’ve moved on.

What destroys my protection
and cultures itself within
is the sliced grief lying about me
and your blindness.

Injured pride, yes, perhaps you were right.
You see, we walked a path
but you ran on, churning peace,
losing the third chance.

Nevermind
yesterday’s hurt is but a door
to strength.

The words ring false though
and I think
I wish I’d kept my own path
the first time.

The dusk fades
and you leave my thoughts
the cruel purple breathing you away.

I forget you.

The wind shifts like this:
Like a human without illusions...
This is how the wind shifts:
Like a human, heavy and heavy,
Who does not care.

What's done in one person's heart and soul leaves no room for a one sided love affair...guess he shouldn't have been too good to ya eh? .....seen it happen many times  ...then again some people always seem to be struggling to learn how to be themself.

"yesterday's hurt is but a door to strength." ....hummm I wonder about that one... good writing you kept me quite intrigued throughout....have a nice day...ethome

"yesterday's hurt is but a door
  to strength..."

the words may ring false right now, and I know how trite it is to say "with time"...
but, it is so true. Sometimes things happen and we cannot see the reason for it at the time, but later on down the road, we look back and go "oh..."

And I am never quite sure if I am making sense...smiles to you, with loving hugs, from K to K...

seems like we were on the same wave-length this weekend...we might think we will forget [we won't] and often we wonder if we should have "stayed the path" on our course through life...and all of the looking back onto purple will not change what we have done.

But overall, this shows a strength and courage that will prevail...

well done little one!

A "lyrical rant" - is it possible?!

"yesterdays hurt is but a door to strength" .. is a mixture of "time heals all" and "we learn from our mistakes".  The point is that we DON'T forget, but the pain sure fades leaving us hopefully more able to deal with the future but never cynical...... that's the ideal anyway..   .. and friends are around to make sure the ideal is achieved ...so there!

walt, you been reading my favourite poem?..lol... the opening of your reply was sure reminiscent of it:

Wallace Stevens
(1879-1955)

The Snow Man

One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;

And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter

Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,

Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place

For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.

~~~~~~~~
marvellous poem ~sigh~ as yours was LK...
thanks
"yesterdays hurt is but a door to strength"
and once we walk through that door and keep walking, we will eventually aquire that strength, like the others said, we may not forget, but the heart ache fades even if a little, it does eventually fade.
and like Philip said, when friends are around it is more easily achieved, he is right ya know!
   K, I do enjoy your writing...as if I'm walking a staircase, ever expectant of the
next landing. Real life spilling from your words.
Kamla--You kept your own path...it may have taken you on a little side journey and yes, someday you will find out what you learned from that trip...because you see with such clarity.  You do have friends...I'm one.
