Illusion

The candle does not light the dark
It's the meadowlark.
And it does not bright the light
It's lovers insight.

The rainbow does not float on air
Bold illusion there.
And does not end in pot of gold
Just a fable told.

The wishing well is fiction too
A story to woo.
It does not hold Aladins lamp
Or the genie vamp.

And phantoms are of fantasy
Not all ecstasy.
They do not touch the real of true
Not the real of you.

Come visit me in shangri-la
Oops I think I made a faux pas.

I've bought a ticket for Shangri-la
got my Visa for the boat
packed my bag that I'll tote
for my trip to Shangri-la

where up is down
and multiple sides
will lift me up
so that I might slide

into the where
of neverland
where I might
hold this hand

that teaches me of faux pas
and the way the once, once was...

I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Yes, much illusion interweaved into everything.  Hard to know what's really real sometimes...nicely written.

Seymour, ya mean there's not a treasure at the end of a rainbow...

Gosh darn, and I thought there was...

As always, it's a pleasure to come across your poems and I thank you for the enjoyable read...

poetic hearts must dream the dream
the minds eye seeks beyond truth's scheme
poetry will ever believe in fate's illusion
as the pen searches reality amidst confusion

never give up on the illusion of rhyme and verse
'tis the release from realities dark curse
dare not deny the gifts of sweet destiny
given the choice ... choose fantasy

Believe in the rainbow's gift of gold
to our dreams and last 3 wishes we must hold
see the light thru eyes of rose not jade
the beautiful illusions we mus'nt trade

never stop searching for your hearts rose
for 'tis where the illusion grants the truth of your suppose

I looked into the sky for my anthem
The words and music came through
But words and music can never touch the beauty that I've seen
Looking into you

Never underestimate fantasy, Sy. It is the cornerstone of reality and, if you understand that, please explain it to me next week!
