Some Memories should stay Buried

I thought I had
safely put you away
dug a hole
called it a grave
but you snuck out

even though just a memory

it's been a long while
I still don't see the smile
just the yearning

you were never as
discerning
as I would
have liked,
but maybe
that is the fallacy in me

for I wanted you to have
the best
and you turned to me

but once,
just once,
you turned away
and when you came
back and said

Her Name Was Hope

then hope was shattered
and I never was quite the
best again
which was all I had ever wanted
you to have
but I couldn't ever give
my best again

not to you

it took a long time for me
to think that someday
I might be the best again

sometimes we have to be
good at something

seems like I failed in a
lot of things

until recently. But you were
not around to see that ~
or this ~

that there would be one

just one

who truly believed in me
and truly wanted the
best for me

and trust me
his name is not Hope

his name is Respect
he put esteem
back in my spine

adoration back in
honor

and he allowed me to
become the best
I could be
once again

Wow... this is a great piece. We all have people in our past that we would like to erase from memory, but proving them wrong is even better, I think. Thanks for posting.

Kari, this is utterly amazing, utterly divine, this is sooo you. It's perfect, your personal applause section love, being noisy and enthusiastic, but it deserves it, this one, like all the others deserve it. I'm waving my little flag and and calling out cheers, and supporting you, with smiles. Go Kari Go!
Take care

Hooray for Respect.  He is a wonderful fellow.  Know him intimately.  Married to a wonderful gal named Love.  They have a beautiful child called Faith.

There are so many memories I would like to bury, but maybe we should prove them wrong. Well expressed.

Sunshine, you respect is merited and well-earned....without it, we are nothing and those who can lose it and get it back are truly masters of their own fate....

if you only knew the tears this brought on...as he walked in here, saw them and said to me..what's the matter?  and I couldnt answer..overwhelmed by your words and wishing he understood what he has done to me...these last few months...

Sunshine,

I think memories are to be treasured.  You have to let go of the bad and hang onto the good.  This one really gets you thinking.  Nice writing.

So well done Sunshine I really the make me as good as I can be line......It's all any of us ever wanted isn't it? Very nice writing and when you can write like this you never ever have to blame someone's lack of insight on yourself...they have to deal with their lack of heart because the heart provides insight to many no matter what level of intelligence that marvelous seat of emotion has a way of uncovering the truth sooner or later..... ethome

LW, yes, you are right, and I do...but sometimes, a whiff of perfume or a brisk breeze can send thoughts reeling backward, and one thinks of the roads taken...thank you for reading...

Paula...and YOU are wonderful for your words...thank you...

Ethome, you have some great lines yourself "seat of emotion"...and you know I always enjoy your coming around to read...

We are a sum total of all of our life's experiences, warts and all, I would miss my bad memories were they to be swept from me, as they have made me who I am today.

Yes, I still cringe in rememberance of them but they are like old friends that I know so well and I can quickly put them back in the attic of my mind where they belong.

Good visualisation and very thought provoking.
