On a cool walk winters eve
of what may have been the last
the time is short for breathing
and the memories that pass.
Within moments of the holiday
that which we share with love
another dark history
has shaken to the soul.
Of dreams that were to be
of a child to be born
the father now rests
never to know those eyes.
I did not know him
nor even his name could conjour
yet his pain is familiar
that which we all endure.
Tommorrow he shall sleep
within the hollow ground
and friends shall gently weep
for the love they have found.
And another day shall come and rise
be greated by the wind
and Michael's soul shall sail free
to capture his heart again.

this is incredibly lovely

Look within the heart of a poet, and you will see a reflection of their soul.

I looked into the sky for my anthem
The words and music came through
But words and music can never touch the beauty that I've seen
Looking into you

Though as many of you know, I do not post replies to my own poetry, I feel I must. I live in a small town in California, with other small comunities around me. I did not grow up here but have been here for more than ten years. On Thankgiving morning Michael Morgan was killed in an auto accident. Though I did not know him, a frien dof mine grew up with him. Michaels funueral is today, one that will be attended by most of the community that lives there. He has a child on his way, one that will never see or know his father. I have seen the sadness in my friends eyes, and I truely do understand. To you, my fellow poets, I ask you to remember everyday with those you love, and keep them in your heart, for we do really never know. I thank you for your kind commments and your words.
