A Mother's Tears

Many are they a mother's tears
Ripping her soul for us to hear
Life she gives, love she needs

Through hurt and pain she endures
And permits the call of nature
To tear away at her muscles
Many a night she stumbles
From barely a moment's sleep
To be suckled by tender sobbing lips

Days of tears as house empties
Long nights, no calls many worries
She is woman, she is strength
She is also gentle and needs love
Many battles she will fight
She may lose some along the way
But the one she never loses
Is the yearning for her child
To embrace her with thanks

Let the tears stop, let mothers
Rejoice with love and compassion
From all of us their children
She is our beginning
Her love is neverending
She is the earth's most beautiful flower
Her tears must cease now and forever.

this poem made me cry, because I have been a mother who lost a child and the memories are wonderful and also because I am expecting again in January and the reminder of what is to come is great. Thank you for this great tribute to all mothers.

Lovebug,
Mothers are the most precious people in our lives. We have to show them we love them.

Startime,
You have every right to be biased. Your role as a mother is what keeps the smiles on peoples faces.

Soozieque,
I am sorry this poem made you cry, but the tears you shed are real expressions of your appreciation for being a mother. I am saddened at your loss. May the new bub bring you much happiness.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

Wow, what can I say..  This piece torn me up and made me understand alot of things.  I have a need to call my mother now and I also have a need to hold my baby right now.  Thank you so much.

Daniel*
I read this first as a mother myself...and
then read it for my mother...it is beautiful
in either view and touched my heart to see
the words you wove...this is indeed
beautiful...the love and respect that you
wove it with are glowing in every
line...many thanks to you Daniel~

I am moved by this one. Thank you so much for posting it.

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.

Butterflies,
I am captivated by your reply, thank you so much. Mothers everywhere deserve much more attention, even if we feel they have enough we should still fill their hearts with thanks and joy.

Oh, yes......my Mom has "skipped out with the angels" and I can't tell her I am sorry for the tears I caused by just not taking the time to say "I love you".  I wish I had the time over again!  The words are wonderful and my tears may wash away some of the guilt.
                Thanks,  ME

Daniel, your poem brought tears to my eyes simply because it opens many doors regarding motherhood. Myself, my mother, my grandmother...

Thank you for posting...
