What Lies Beneath

Rambling falsehoods of radiance
Should mirror mimic foolish lies
Verifying the ignorant illusion
Glimpsing the made up face
It hides the one God gave

Seeing not the diamonds
But the dirt that surrounds
Missing the halo of gem
That the far- sighted can not see
As clean hands merely brush surface

Yet my shadow, my silent witness
Sees through what should be obvious
And holds you on highest pedestal
For picturesque beauty is not in reflection
It glows below skin and cell

Shimmering the aura from heart
It is what lies beneath

If I may?

It is indeed what lies beneath. . . and it takes a special someone to see beyond. . . and know the heart. . .

This is an excellent poem. . . one of your best. . .

A walk on the deep side with you   This is
excellent writing Marina and gives me a
moment to pause and feel your words and take
them to heart...what lies beneath...that is
truly where what matters lies...always a joy
to see you posting!!

I have to agree with Martinque.  It does make you stop and think.  Not only of what lies beneath the one that you're speaking of, but of what lies beneath your own surface.

Wonderful Marina.

Marina this is just superb work. You should really submit this one to the main site. A very interesting and thoughtful read, well constructed with great "flow" to it!!!

As you can tell, smiles, I enjoyed this one tremendously...hugs, and more of the same, if that is not too greedy of me?

Thank you all for replies!!

Please excuse my being so vague in my reply.  I haven't been very well lately and so it is off to bed for me again.

Thanks all again, you comments and compliments mean a great deal to me!
