she awoke that morning before the dawn
Great Spirit called to her
and, as the first light of dawn touched her eye
she was taken to the other plane

she could see herself flying above the land
in another time, in another place
she flew high on eagle's wing
above the lake and trees
amazed at Great Spirit's gifts to her and her kind

the wind carried her beyond the mountains
to that place where they lived
that place where they existed in peace with the land
in harmony with nature
and gave thanks to Great Spirit for all given

and, as she flew above them on her eagle's wings,
their song mixed with the cry of her own voice,
her own voice, now the eagle's voice
singing. . .

We n' de ya ho, We n' de ya ho
We n' de ya ho, We n' de ya ho, ho ho ho
He ya ho he ya, Ya ya ya

together, they praised Great Spirit
together, they were one with the land
together, they shared the land
and Great Spirit cared for them
and loved them. . .

then, the sun drew back, and she was back on this plane
she remembered why she was called, and her role here
and, in the distance, she heard the eagle's cry
and saw the dawn for the first time. . .

-------------------------------------------------------------
Note: The Cherokee song that I have included here is called the "Cherokee Morning Song", and was sung by the Cherokee to greet the dawn.

Translation follows:
I am of the Great Spirit, Ho! I am of the Great Spirit, Ho!
I am of the Great Spirit, Ho! I am of the Great Spirit Ho! It is so, it is so.
Great Spirit, Great Spirit, Great Spirit

Thank you. . .

Sven~
You have touched the wings of this 'eagle' ...
You have pleased the voices of the ancients.
In my heritage we have a tradition of sitting the Vision Quest ...
you have touched the very essence of the plane on which I stand
when opening myself up for the Great Spirits to enter and bring the gifts of the past.

They come - I listen.
I am but the vessel into which their concerns
for this earth are poured.

My mission is to share with others.
And it is so ... we are one.

No one could be more honored than I am at this lovely piece.

The Cherokee Morning Song has filled the dawning of the day
for most of my life.
I learned it at the knee of my great grandmother.
I thank you so much for this lovely crafting.

*To all who have come to know me - know that I am honored
to extend the hand of friendship and to draw you into the true
circle of friends.

Thank you, Sven ... you soar on my thoughts.
We n' de ya ho !

An amazing and perfect tribute to Marge!  It is evident that you really researched and put your heart and soul into this piece!  This is by far your best of the series.  It's so good to see a tribute here for Marge, she deserves it and them some.  Be very proud of this poem Sven!

Take care,
Melissa

She shall forever soar not only within these walls but within this heart as well and you have portrayed her not only with your beautiful words for her but in a manner in which she deserves to be portrayed and that is with the words of her own people.  Excellent penning.
