Another Knights Tale
Or
Tonights the Knight

I bid you all welcome to this little tale of mine
It's about a maiden called by sheer coincidence Nine
She was but the youngest one out of nine daughters
Her parents didn't stop when they really oughter
But after nine they realised their work was done
And finally stopped trying for their longed for son

Sir Stich the knight in this tale is bold and true
He'd even battled with a dragon he's one of the few
It's true that the dragon was rather old and frail
But that's not how legend recalls the stirring tale
Sir Stich was bright he'd even been to knight school
He had his knightly diploma displayed on his wall

Nine was a sweet maid and she's always helping out
Still she missed her sisters being around and about
They being older had left for lives of their own
Nowadays she only spoke to them on the telephone
Her days were really rather dreary and awfully slow
She spent hours just watching the river ebb and flow

Well this day she was sitting in her favourite spot
Enjoying the sun and thinking the day was quite hot
When suddenly a very large fish jumped out at her
I'll take that home she said, it'll cause quite a stir
The fish, this being a fairy story, spoke and said what
I'm a wizard you idiot not for cooking in any old pot

Is your name Nine, he asked her in a rather abrupt way
A sensible soul would have told him she's gone away
But if she had there wouldn't be any more for me to tell
So she said yes, and thought of the stories she could sell
Ok magazine would she knew pay lots of dosh for the tale
And with pictures of a talking fish she'd certainly not fail

Right you, he said and changed himself back to a man
Come here, and then grabbed at her before she ran
She being sweet but admittedly what they call dim
Didn't think to say there's my dad I need to ask him
He doesn't let me out on my own as a general rule
No she kept quiet and acted like she was a silly fool

Her mother being wise had warned her about all men
But she being stupid didn't remember about it then
So the wizard has Nine, so what will her mam do?
Wake up Sir Stich, right now is the time we need you
I know you were getting sleepy just waiting to arrive
Now is the time we need you bright energetic and alive

Sir Stich leapt onto his dashing steed with gusto
Now this is the action expected of a knightly hero
He's off to find the maiden held by a sneaky wizard
If her mum gets hold of him she'll have his gizzard
No one messes about with Nines mum, I'm telling you
Let us hope Sir Stich lives up to his name so true

Meanwhile the wizard has found Nine to be a bit boring
She's tided and thrown out some bits he's been storing
He only buys Witchfold for the articles that are in it
Nine didn't understand he likes to keep them for a bit
He's also tired because she's kept him up all night
No not that at all, she had a poem she would recite

Sir Stich arrives in the very nick of time for Nine
The wizard was cross because she'd overstepped the line
He was angry when she threw away all his mucky mags
But that's nothing to how he feels about the way she nags
She didn't mean to moan at the wizard that I do know
But she doesn't like missing her favourite TV show

So Sir Stich picks up Nine and they ride off home
Leaving the wizard to cover his house in messy foam
Nines mam berates her rather foolish trusting daughter
And Nines pa pays Sir Stich the fee like he oughter
Sir Stich can see why the wizard wanted to steal Nine
Her sisters were pretty but Nine is something very fine

So the knight asks for Nine the stunner to marry him
And Nine says yes, she's stupid but she's not that dim
In the Ok special feature posed under this headline
Are their pictures of the marriage in the sunshine
Oh you want to know just what the headline said
All right I'll tell you, this is how the headline read

A Sir Stich In Time Saves Nine, yes it is a rotten plot
I know I deserve to be hanged or at the very least shot
It's because I can't write tales of knights and ladies fair
So I make do with stories that bring a smile to share
Paula's the one with the romantic knights and thrills
My stories tend to be rather plainer I don't do frills

Absolutely delightful! And that is not a term I use with great regularity! I saw where you were going, and loved every line, just the same. Great job.

Shoot you? Who would SHOOT you?  As it is, I'm shot through with laughter...and I didn't even see it coming...was looking for something totally different...

Oh my....{~,^}

Startime, so it brought a smile then   which is what it was for. I always think things look better through a smile. Thank you very muchly, I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

Gunslinger, I know I do tend to telegraph my punchlines don't I. Glad you think it was delightful. It's all Paula's fault, she set me off with her knights and now I can't stop.

Circe, actually love I like this one, it was intended just for a smile thing, turned into a very long saga though. But I did enjoy it. I know you like everything I write, but that's because you are a real sweetheart. And I happen to like all you do too.
Take care sweetie

Kari, you'll notice I've been really good, I've not been on here hardly at all today. Been trying to get the work out of the way before the end of the month. So you really like it. And I'm glad it make you laugh, I did too. I might even put this one up on our board, as long as the MBOOPAS don't moan about it too much. Now I'll go and reply to the posts and do what I've wanted to do since I got to work this afternoon.
Take care love

Paula, I'm glad it brings a smile, I am truly. Anyway we have a deal, you do the romantic night knights, I do the comic night knights. And I actually enjoy doing them, I really do, so you missy must keep doing them because I love your knights, soooooooo much!
take care

Prinny True,
that really suits you
Sounds like one of the knight of old
So dashing brave and very bold
You're also good and obviously kind
Like the knights Paula has in mind
So Prinny True is the name I chose
And by the way I have some shoes
To go with the dress you said you'd wear
We had a deal remember and it's only fair!!

Glad you enjoyed it, I thought it would bring a few smiles
Take care

Kit, I'm sorry I didn't see you there, I had to do some work, I know it is a bind. I'm so pleased you like it. I think I find these such fun to do because I enjoy a good giggle. As I think do most people, and I could do with a laugh this week, end of the month always makes me feel shattered. Anyway thanks for reading and replying.
Take care
