Dream Weaver’s Turquoise Love
Karen Torbiak
Jun 2000

Standing on her porch
watching the sky darken
with the approaching storm
sends a shiver up her spine

It isn’t that she is afraid of storms
for she loves to watch the power
unleashed pouring its wrath
upon the earth

There is a sense of something different
hidden deeply in the approaching clouds
that she can’t quite put a name to

She takes a deep breath
breathing in the fresh ozone filled air
and smells that something different
mixed with the familiar smell

It almost has a taste,
a tangyness left behind
to tease her mind
into a futile attempt to place it
and make it familiar

As she watches
with a touch of fear
the dark forbidding clouds
boiling towards her
she asks aloud of the sky
“What is it?”

Before she can ascertain an answer
the winds of the storm are upon her
lashing her wild red hair wilder still
in stunning beauty around her pale face

The winds she loves
from the gentle caress
to the wild fury of a gale
yet still this wind has a power
not before known to her

The wind starts to pull at her
with the feeling of arms of steel
dragging her ever forward
towards the deep blackness
of the approaching menace

As she struggles to break the hold
her senses reveal something else
that is not right for this wind
carries with it
the icy feeling of winter
on this full summer day

Wait, it is not the cold
of a winter wind
but the cold of fear
as it passes into her veins
creeping ever closer to her heart

Her eyes held captive
are drawn still
to the heart of the storm
where suddenly a light appears
and she watches as it races the storm
with great effort to reach her first

As the light approaches
she can finally discerns a shape
that takes her breath away
as her brain screams at her
“This is not possible!! A dragon I see!!”

Though her mind is racing
for an explanation
her eyes strain
to catch every detail
of this creature of fantasy

The first thing she notices is
that his hide is of purest gold
giving off a light
that surrounds him
like a brilliant halo

His wings are spread
wide from his body
and she can see the
great muscles straining
as with apparent ease
he cuts through
these evil filled winds

As her gaze soaks up the sight
of this magnificent dragon
she gasps anew and feels
her heart begin to pound
as she finds a man astride
this dragon’s back

He too is arrayed
in a strange gold
that gives light to guide
through the darkness
although his clothes
are leather like
in their appearance

His hair is black
that falls in thick waves
to his shoulders framing a face
that smiles in a way designed for
the conquering of womankind

To her astonishment and joy
this splendid pair
land right before
her humble house
as if on a mission here

His voice carries to her
through the storm
strong and sensual
as it set her juices flowing
and she feels a wetness
gathering as her body responds

Though her senses are reeling
his voice penetrates
with power as he says,
“There is danger in this storm.
Let me fly you to a place
with the warmth of Love”

Without a second thought
and ignoring the voice
of warning from her brain
she runs down the porch steps
to be lifted by strong hands
and placed on the back
of a golden dragon

Mounting in front of her
and giving her instructions
to hold tightly to him
he takes up the reins
and gives the command
to go aloft

Lightning is flashing
all around them now
as the winds icy fingers
try to rip her from this man
who has the blood
in her veins singing

With an ease
that leaves one in awe
the dragon lifts
on strong hind legs
to launch them smoothly
into the sky
while his wings pump
out a steady rhythm
as they continue to climb

It seems only minutes
have passed
since they left the ground
yet they are already
breaking through
the air and flying above the storm

No need for words
for they would surely
be snatched away
by the winds rushing by them
as they speed their way south

Far below she sees
a small island come into view
nestled in a turquoise sea
and as they approach
the green lushness of this island
soothes her spirit

Landing as smooth as the takeoff
the man jumps from the dragon
and reaches taking her waist
in his hands as he lifts her gently down

Not willing to let her loose
he holds her tight
burying his face in her hair
as he whispers how glad he is
that his search for her
through the ages has ended

Her spirit responds
as total recall fills her mind
of her desperate search
for the one she had lost
countless ages before

The two move as one
not daring to let go
towards the soft moss
growing above the beach
where their love will be fulfilled
in the joining of man and woman

Impatient and already remembering
the pattern of each other bodies
they shed their clothes
not caring that they stand nude
and brilliant before the other

Storm forgotten in the power of love
that is coursing through their bodies
as they run hands over the other
in a desire to memorize each inch

Driven by a heat
demanding release
these two come together
as crashing waves beat
out the pattern of their love

As both cry out in unison
reaching that place
their souls well remember
and the dragon lifts its head
in quiet contemplation

Well spent from the power
of their explosive desires
they are content
to trace fingers over skin
and rest that they may
come together again

Time passes slowly
as these two love
with eyes, sound,
taste, touch and smell
bringing memories
surging in on them

With a smile
of deep satisfaction
and contentment
she allows herself
to drift into sleep
cradled in the arms
of the man her heart longed for

Waking alone
sitting on her porch
and seeing an approaching storm
she feels disappointment
turning to thankfulness
as she thanks Dream Weaver
for this Turquoise Love
she’ll play over and over again

Thank you so very much for your incredible compliment. I love to weave my little stories for they are visions in my mind that I use words to paint pictures of. *giggling* for some reason, I knew you would enjoy this one. Hugs my friend. Thank you, you inspire me to write even more.

Jeez! I agree with SEA. Such stories you weave! A book would be wonderful..Tales of the Dream Weaver....or something like that describing all the journeys your dream weaver takes you....this is great!!
