Where no tyranny is tolerable

0 posted 2000-11-27 09:43 PM

This should be read to a

background of vividly imagined celestial imagery;
soft, ethereal music,
the distant crash of breaking surf,
a clear night,
a full Moon,
a brilliant canopy of stars ...

                            Soul Mate
Even as astronomers probe the heavens,
Listening for the faintest spark
from minds
we feel must certainly be there,
although we do not as yet
have evidence or proof of it,

day by day, the distance is shortening.
Hour by hour, the circle is closing.
Perhaps it is these thoughts and words
that will jump across the shrinking span
of Time, of Circumstance, and Space
that still must lie between us.
Perhaps it is this query, going out,
that will be heard, acknowledged and returned.

And then the circle will, at last, be closed!
Then there will no longer be a doubt
I am a part of the human race,
that I did make a difference, after all,
that whatever men or gods of fate
might do, or have in store for me,
I can feel stronger and less afraid,
knowing You are there
to take my hand,
knowing I will not be alone
anymore

Dear reader.
I deeply appreciate your attention to reading my stuff.  Please
note, however, that for technical reasons I can not yet use the
"reply" function (I am blind and use a screen access program).  I
can read your reply, but please do not be offended if I do not
personally reply to your reply on the board using the icons, but
love to respond to mail, and have the time of my life with it!  I
hope to resolve the posting issue in the next few days
I want to thank you again for taking the time to read my piece, and
look forward to correspond with you.

                             Cheers,
                              Jaime

Although most scientists trace the universe back to a very small dense beginning(a singularity), we cannot avoid the key issue, "If at some point in the past the universe was once close to a singular state of infintely small size and infinite density, we have to ask what was there before and what was outdise the universe...we have to face the problem of a beginning"...Sir Bernard Lovell.
This implies more than just a source of vast energy. Foresight and intelligence are also needed because the rate of expansion seems very finely tuned. "If the Universe had expanded one million millionth part faster," said Lovell, "then all the material in the universe would have dispersed by now....And if it had been one million millionth of a part slower, then gravitational forces would have caused the universe to collapse within the first thousand million years of its existence. Again there would have been no long-lived stars and no life........

You better believe you make a difference!
You most certainly do.

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.

Jamie,
I think you have captured what many of us hope to feel about our lives, and that is that by being alive, we have somehow made a postive difference in the lives of others!

You are a wonderful poet, I hope to read more!

I'm glad that I found this one, thanks for sharing!

They are out there watching us. It must be true because I just replied to this and lost it out in space. Wham Bam and it disappered, gone to that parallel universe. See we are not alone. I want to keep the circle open just in case they come to visit. Enjoyed your piece and hope to read more.

I have to say this is also my favorite part...and this was exactly what I needed to read today...

thank you so much...

Sweetheart: soulmates see with their minds, the vision is our soul's desire, their beauty is felt by our touch...we are often the perception of others and blind to ourselves...but we all speak with one heart..

~Jaime~

Welcome to Passions!  You made a superb entrance with this piece! I am very impressed   You should be very proud of your poem, it is absolutely beautiful and thought-provoking.  Never before have I read such a unique poem on soulmates and the power of faith to find that "one" person. the last verse is so beautiful, I love this! I look forward to more poetry by you

Take care,
Melissa

This is the first I've read from you.  How beautiful the imagery in the lines, and how clearly you see.  My friend, let me tell you, I only see out of one eye, (clearly) and I know that poetry comes from the heart and the soul.  These words are woven in expression and imagery.  You can't get much better than that.  Welcome to Passions.
