Let me be your raincoat when dark clouds form overhead
Let me be the comforter you snuggle with in bed
Let me be the medicine to ease your misery
Should you believe you're all alone, let your thoughts be of me.

Let me be the tissue that you use to dry your tears
Let me be arms open wide to override your fears
Let me be a quiet thought you keep inside your brain
Should life sing you a song of sadness, make me your refrain.

Let me be the feel of evening breeze upon your cheek
When you describe emotions, let me be the words you speak
Let me be your summer day when winter comes with chill
If weakness causes you to falter, let me be your will.

Let me be the melody to chase away the blues
When you need easy listening, let me be the one you choose
Let me be the sunshine to make darkness fade from view
And, most of all, I pray that you will let me be...with you.

Beautiful work Balladeer, I've read much here before posting and this one is very deserving of praise.

Better be careful sweetstuff...
your gonna cause a stampede...
do we need to take a number?
do an audition?
fill out a resume?

What does one need to do to be the one to steal this heart true blue?
Wonderful sincere sweet poem  ...
we all need to be loved like this...
we all can be in poetry
You know I love when ya put your heart to rhyme..
makes me feel all warm and spammy inside
later-make us *sigh* gator

Danced butterflies in the wild
This angel, this woman ,
who loves me with the innocence of a child.

Balladeer~
You romantic devil you ! !
Well .. OKAY ... you talked me into it !

I will let you be my shelter
to keep me safe and warm
Snuggle down each evening
in your loving arms

If you are beside me
I'll have no need to cry
So we can skip the tissues
we don't have to buy

Oh, the evening breeze of you
blowing softly on my cheek
Would cause me sure surrender
You'd have no need to speak

Hold me close and sing a song
I'll hum the melody
and kiss you oh, so sweetly
If you'd but sing to me

You are just the perfect man
I'd want to hold me tight
enfolded in your loving arms
through each and every night

I will want to be with you
when the sun has gone to rest
Your wish will be my command
and I will love you best

*Did you mean it ?

Oh, this is so beautiful Michael ... it sings so sweetly of thoughts I so endear, the strength to lift one up from the sadness and fill them with light ... ahhhh ... tender, delicate and treasured are these words ... beautiful thoughts from a caring and warm heart.

Best wishes,
/Kit

This is a great lyric, Michael... reminds me of my sister (but just a little bit)... years ago, she used to do a satire of the Beatles, "Let it Be"... while behind the bathroom door.... lol... she'd sing this -

"Let me be! Let me be!
Go away and let me pee!
Here's my words of wisdom -
Let me pee!"

ohh... geez, my sister's sense of humor could sometimes be sardonic... ROFL... but, hey? I'm just hoping it's not a family thing, y'know?

anyway, great poem.... lucky Muse!

Your essence shines through with this one, Michael, as a lighthouse.  This is lovely.

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.

Let me be another poet to tell you that this is simply a great work of poetry...and the lines are very song lyric oriented...they could be put to music very easily...they have that wonderful romance of music swimming through them.....good stuff!! Now I know why they call you Balladeer....ethome
