May I Please be Sad?

Allow me a moment to truly be sad
As I sort out the threads of the good and the bad
For the fine woven fibers that make up my life
Have been twisted and turned into sorrow and strife

Please give me some time to decifer God’s plan
The blueprint proposed and drawn up for each man
Let me search and unscroll His design of my page
Then lend me the wisdom and sense of a sage

Let tear drops flow free in this hour of grief
As I awkwardly grasp to affirm my belief
Allow me to walk through the meadow alone
For footsteps of  pain I must tread on my own

Embrace me in silence to hold and condole
Not with your arms, but from depths of your soul
Your thoughts will be carried to me by the wind
And I’ll breath in your love and caress it within

for this exceptional poem has taken my words.

Thank you for your kind responses to this poem. I would also like to thank everyone for your support and prayers during these difficult months. My husband is very near the end of his battle. We're not sure that he will live through this night. My children are staying all night in his hospital room. You have all been so wonderful through this ordeal. Please know that the entire family appreciates your words, your continued prayers and your blessings.
THank you, dear poet friends

Elizabeth this is pure heart and soul from you and I want you to know it's so human and so real and touches my heart...I'm not a religious men but I have beliefs and feelings and I agree with the apostle Paul's words in the Bible..."Faith is the ASSURED expectation of things hoped for, the EVIDENT demonstration of reality though not beheld."  like the wind exists but we can't see it I think we know that we're connected to a force more powerful than a human could ever imagine. The tender content of your poems and your love for this wonderful gift of consciousness that we enjoy as humans alive tells me a lot about the depth of your heart.....and God bless you through this troublesome time...so glad you can write these things and release them from your mind...and I enjoy your expressions so much!!  take care....ethome.

Oh, Liz and family, Dale and I have thought about, and prayed for you and Tony ever since we found out many months ago.  We will not stop.  I'm so terribly sorry the end seems to be near.  I cannot begin to fathom such pain, and to say how sorry I am doesn't even touch the feeling inside.  I know that God will hold you in His loving arms, and I'm so glad for the faith in your family.  For you have a future and a hope in Heaven, ahead of you.

I had to go back a little ways... but I finally found Tony's pic... put it on my desktop... keeps me praying... Whatever God has in mind I pray and know he will get you all through this. Who can know the mind and heart of God..? But one thing I do know is that it says "All things work together for good for those that are in Christ Jesus.

I would like to thank each of you for your loving, warm, and true sentiments and prayers.
You have no Idea how much your words mean to me and help me through this time
I was with Tony most of the day, but he was not with me. He's in a very deep sleep, free of pain and distress. My children continue the vigil by his bedside.
With much love and appreciation for your overwhelming response, I once again thank each one of you

I wrote a poem earlier this year for a woman who had cancer.  It was called 'Love In Your Call.'  It is about accepting God in your heart and praying to him with 'love in your call.'  I can so tell you have this.  You are a wonderful writer.  Roger

I wrote this for serenity, but I think you need it now...

Ears to listen,
Shoulders to lend,
Hands to soothe,
No words to mend.

Everyone is here for you and your family.

"Prostrated to your feet and humiliated by my sins, with full trust I come to you, Oh Mary! I beg you to accept the request that my heart comes to present before you, for the last moments of my life. Dear Mother, I wish to ask your protection and maternal love. So at the final moment, you do all that your love suggests in my favor.

"To you, Oh Mother of my soul, I consecrate the last two hours of my life. Hurry to my side and receive my last breath. And when death has destroyed the string of my days, present my soul to Jesus, saying: “I love it”

"That only word spoken by you, will be enough to insure the blessing of God; and the joy of contempleating you through eternity.

"Oh my Mother and Hope in you I trust. And my trust won´t be in vain.

"Oh Mary! Pray for your son and guide him to Jesus!"

-Written by the late Reverend Brother Ildefonso M. Izaguirre O.P.

Liz-

Still praying for you and your family.
God Bless you and may you find the peace
and happiness you deserve. I got an Angel
in heaven (my mom)...whenever I need
strength from up above, I turn to her. So
for you my friend I will do the same. You
are very loved here at Passions and I
join the others in praying and hoping.
Take care.

I truely regret taking so long to read this but I am so glad that I did. I am very happy that you will keep the faith. This poem is so thoughtful and well put out. You do well even in timed of crisis. Terrible that inspiration is brought from this well of sadness. You are in our prayers at this house from the wee ones to my wife and I.

Lizzie and family~
Please know that my thoughts are again joined here
with the others to hold you in this hour of need.

And now, dear friend -
Tony is returned to The Sender of all life -
The Master - The Maker - The Giver - The Taker
May you find peace in knowing
that Tony is held in His arms this night.

We are here, dear friend.
We share with you.
Blessings to you - and much love.

His suffering has ended and he now is cradled in the loving arms of our Lord and for that I rejoice.  I also send you my deepest heartfelt prayers for YOUR peace this night my friend.  You will once again join him at his side when it is time and in the mean time, I know that you will honor his memory and love by your ever growing love for God and all that he gives us.

permission to feel
oh, no, it's not needed
for simply it is
when one's life is heeded

there's passages we pass
pathways trevasse
moments that take us
oh much too far past

endurance we muster
for life moves along
it may be in inches
healed with a song

perhaps there are seconds
that slow to a crawl
and some that seem not
to be moving at all

then when they're gone
we cannot retrieve them
and all that we've left
is to sit and to grieve them

tears are our safety
they cleanse and release
pain much too heavy
to leave us in peace

so cry them and weep them
daytime and sleep them
for surely they be
sonnets of love
for the one who's now free

free from the strain
and stress of the sting
that into one's life
the living can bring

Being new to this board, I really don't know in what stage this trevail is now in...but I do know the pain of losing someone deeply loved.  My prayers are for you and your entire family for a loss has been felt whether final or not.  I hope I've said nothing in ignorance that has added any iota of pain to your days.
God bless you all!

Lizzy..I think this is the perfect thread in which to say: I admire you so much. You are one of the most giving people I know. The love I feel from you, that you give me, is much like what my Mum/Mom gives me - and that is miraculous - considering I haven't seen your face. You know that if I could...I would be right there with you. We who love you here will give as much as we can in this time of need.

Dearest Liz,
You never need to ask permission for such as this... I wanted to say that before but got tangeled in the tears...
My daughter just came running upstairs to tell us that someone put a request into a radio station... need I say, it was for Tony Santos.... Pretty pretty song too. Thank you whoever you are very lovely...

Much Much Love

Neat poem.

Take all the time you want.

The virtue's called "patience,"
it's also a muse.
When you know how to use it,
you won't ever lose.

hey, it does say "crazy"...tom

May the peace that comes
from the rememberance of
love given and shared
be your strength now
and in your journey ahead...

You and your family are in my prayers...

Dear Liz...take all the time in the world you need to be sad and feel free to shed a few tears on these shoulders if need be, but also don't let the happy times you shared drift far from your memory. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers. ((((HUGS))))

Liz, this is an exquisite piece, from deep within and a wonderful answer to all those people who will ask "what can I do?" wanting only to help, this is the best help they can give you, I know...to let you have this time to mourn....I have never heard it said more eloquently then in this poem. My prayers are with you, and please, take all the time you need to walk the path that none of us can truly walk with you, only know that you are not walking it alone, God is with you every step of the way and his arm is there to hold you when you are ready to take it.

Dear freinds in poetry,
You have given me a gift so precious that it will remain in my heart forever. I have just now been able to read all of your responses to this poem and the poems you have written for me, as the computer I was using distorted the words to the point that it was unreadable. I must say I am truly moved by your remarks and the genuine love and caring that helps me so in this time of grief.  I don't know how to thank you all for the support you've given us.
Now I want to see some happy poetry when I open the forum. I want to smile again.
Liz
