Old Man on A Stool

That old man, sitting on his stool
Daily watching kids go by, on their way to school
He always looks the same to me, he never looks displeased
He’s calm, collected, and fulfilled, proud of what’s achieved

The wrinkles on his skin so creased, show labour and life’s pain
The smile that’s sealed across his face, shows what he had to gain
Sometimes his eyes stare far and deep, maybe living life again
Just as one could watch a show, or travel through by train

Old man what are your thoughts today, what do your eyes now see
Is it too much change today, or your own life lived through me
What is it that you feel today, what lessons can you teach
Or are we too proud to learn from you, are we too hard to reach

Sit on old man sit on your stool, and wave to times gone by
Watch and laugh at what we do, and where and how and why
But keep your calm and show us all, through silence so serene
That we should take life as it comes, ‘cause life is just a dream

I've always wondered what some of my elders are thinking as they watch the younger ones.. I'm sure their thoughts are quite wistful and longing...but always matured with the experience of life...very nice writing... welcome to Passions.....ethome

Elders watch, remember, and through example, show...

thank you.
