Dream Weaver's Snowy Night of Magic(part one)
Karen Torbiak
2000

The darkness of the night sky was
lit with millions of brilliant stars
filling the expanse of the sky
as they cast a magic over the new
fallen snow with a brightness
reflected by the glow of the full moon

As she leans back she hears the creak
of leather seats in this beautiful
red sleigh sent to take her to
she knows not where except her
girlfriend sent a message that she
would meet her there for the party

She closes her eyes and allows her senses
to be filled with the magic of the ride
as she breathes the crisp, night air
mixed with the scent of pine as they
pass through the woods and into a clearing
taking them over the fields of unbroken whiteness

The movement of the sleigh is steady
rocking her gently as the horse moves
forward at a smooth pace along the
trail previously made by others as
they too were out on this magical
night with full moon and stars shining bright

The snow crunches beneath the skis
of the sleigh lending a gentle sound
that further lulls her into a state
of deep contentment as she snuggles
into the warmth of the white fur
that is wrapped so beautifully around her

With eyes closed she sighs
letting her thoughts drift to her dreams
where a magical feeling of serenity
flows through her transporting her to a past
where the world still has time
for the sweet joys of a winter sleigh ride

Feeling the sleigh slow its pace
and hearing a pounding sound she opens
her eyes to see coming towards them
a rider sitting tall on a large,
dark horse which brings a smile to her face
for this lends greater magic to her night ride

She notices that it is a man riding
towards them and he is signing for
the driver to stop the sleigh
while he pulls up along side them
tipping his hat to her showing her
a smile that tinkles from his eyes

As the sleigh stops he walks his horse
to the rear securing it to the back
of the sleigh and then climbs into
the sleigh, seating himself at her
side while tucking the fur around them both
bringing her into closer contact with him

A small gasp escapes her as she gazes into
dark eyes that flash with a passion and love
she has ever dreamed of seeing in the eyes
of the man who would join with her, eternally,
in a world of man, filling it with the magic
and fantasy that only soul mates can give it

His hard form moves closer still as he
opens his arms and pulls her into
his strong embrace wrapping his arms
around her and gently molding his body
to hers as she leans back against
his chest resting her head against him

Feeling his body heat flow into her
she sighs with contentment closing
her eyes, while she feeling the beat
of his heart, smelling the masculine scent
of him and feeling the soft warmth
of his breath in her hair

As she drifts in this state of serenity
all about her seems frozen in time
as they glide through the magic
of the night sharing a time
of fantasy with the one who completes
the very heart and soul of them

Again her eyes open to the slowing
of the sleigh only to find herself
alone once again as she realizes
it was only a dream but still she
gives thanks to Dream Weaver for
the fantasy she has granted her this night

She sees that they have come
to a small cabin lit from inside
with warm, welcoming lights and gentle
music that can be heard filling
the still night air with a sweetness
that lights her eyes with delight

With a small gasp she sees standing
by the cabin a tall dark horse which makes
her giggle with merriment at the reminder of her dream
then her eyes go to the now open door seeing
a man standing with open arms and dark, twinkling eyes

Thank you so much. I am glad you enjoyed this poem even though it was very long. I am a little nervous about posting part 2 as it is 28 stanzas but all were needed to convey the vision. *sigh* I really apprecate your wonderful reception of my material. Thank you so very much.
