Between a laugh and a tear...

.......for Sharon.

Reminiscing

Twenty years on, still seems only yesterday
The light of my life, you came my way
Young and foolish I really hadn't a clue
Still recall the love I held for you

The years rolled on by, just moments lost in time
Alone now with my memories, contemplating rhyme
Only faded photographs and tears to fill my nights
Wondering where, when, and how I ever lost sight

Mistakes long past now seen all too clear
Bring with them memories of the pain and fear
I hear your call! Don't look back the past is gone!
But with a heart so scarred how can I go on

Still chained by those demons from the past
And the knowledge that my fate has been cast
Still this smoldering ember, my soul it burns
Can I reach beyond the pain, my past to spurn

powerful poetry Eagle...
very well written out and expressed
sometimes the past hold us, sometimes we do learn from our mistakes...but our emotions bind us ...
you have asked your self all the right questions...
this kind of soul searching is the only way we can move forward.
I wish for you better days and memories ..
take care sweet poet.

Yep sometimes we let the memories keep us in the past even when we know WE KNOW that nothing more can ever come of them. Its hard to let go of a love that feels unfinished huh? Hugs to you

Eagle One,
what a beautiful soul you have, and how well it's reflected in this write.

Written within your words of love lost there is a hope that the morrow will again grace you with the love you have in your heart to share. This was heartfelt and beautiful. Thank you for the read.

My dear friend...I've read this over so many
times hoping to lend the words to you to
take away the pain that finds you in this
piece...but I know I'll fall short so let me
just tell you what I saw here...you've
opened up heart and soul in this and let the
poetry flow from it...while it's open may
sunshine be allowed to pour in my
friend...excellent writing~

Sea......yes, never easy letting go! Thanks.

My dear sweet butterfly,as you know writing the words helps to ease the pain. I don't know that the sunshine is pouring in but I can see it now.   Thankyou my friend!

Victoria.....I like to think that each of us holds within ourselves the power to heal our hearts. It's just hard to recognise that most of the time.   Thanks!

Ah, yes, Little River Band, one of My favorite songs, and now a great poem.....
loved this one.

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.

EagleOne,

My dear friend this one is filled with sadness and sorrow.  Perhaps a small hint of regret thrown in there.  We all have to look back so that we can move forward . . . regardless of who it is with.  Please know you are in my thoughts.  I hope she read this and you both can learn from the past.  **HUGS**
