May I Ask Why

~~Daniel J D~~

When the rain fails
May I ask why
Farmers come off the rails
And the sheep in the meadow
Weaken and die

If danger's in the streets
May I ask why
A lost soul, miles from home
In the forests of the Amazon
Cries, in pain all alone
Until, a helping hand stops the cry

With crude oil on the reef
May I ask why
Birds cannot fly
And fish float on their sides
While the sands blacken with the tides

As mountains lose their cover
May I ask why
People move over
As saws cease to narrow
Rainforests are no more
And rivers have no tomorrow

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love
(Daniel J D)

Daniel J D, this is a really thought provoking poem. Excellant write, not only do you ask the questions but you make the reader think, which is what of course what we should do. I really like this one, amazing work.
Take care

you ask all the right questions Daniel..
so many things seem so simply solved...by merely doing the right thing..
but right isnt always what makes money and for far too many in power...that is the bottom line.
well done poem of conscience ..excellent imagery...
take care

Daniel...I like the statement of this, and I too, hope for a day we can live on earth, and honor her, as well as each other.

Daniel~ To ask why is to seek a solution as well as an answer.
Great poem!

Ethome, Marsha, James, Janet, Startime,Charisma, Serenity, and BloomingRose,

Thank you all for your replies. The concern is that politicians these seem to only have a conscience when they need a vote, once elected they sign the papers allowing the major corporations to just do as they please. All of sick political systems exist in every nation.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love
