She glances at the paper, dimly lit by candlelight…
The flickering shadows dance on windowsill…
No sound is heard, but silent words are captured,
as she writes…
Her world is held within the Poet’s Quill…

The words flow freely, bubbling up,
from deep within her soul…
A never-ending fountain filled with thoughts…
It was in her beginnings, it will be as she grows old…
A love for words is what her life has wrought…

Remembering, so long ago, a child the age of five,
and Grandmother, who saw the need within…
Then introduced the child to words,
and taught her how to write,
on butcher paper…with crayons for her pens…

And now she knows, without a doubt, her final destiny…
she writes as magic overtakes her will…
She’ll write until forever comes to set her spirit free…
As free as words, now flowing,
from her quill…

Ahhhhh.....thank you!! This one is a true story, about my Grandma and me. She was an angel in my life......I miss her, but I always feel her presence when I need her the most.

Ah, this one is so special. I never knew my grandmothers but this truly touched my heart. Thank you for posting this one!

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.

I think in her own way, your Grandmother instilled in you a love of art......just look at the beauty of images you paint inside your words!! Thank you, my friend!

Sunny, this is so beautiful! Really, how do you find all the words? How do you find all the right ways to say something and allow others to see exactly what you do and feel what you feel? I guess it's the talent you surely have! I was lucky to have known my Grandmothers. One of them, I took care of for 4 years. I was 16 years old and stood by her until I was 20 and she passed away. I am close to the one I do have left now and was close to my great grandparents who just passed away at the ages of 96 and 101 years of age. Grandparents are the best! Thanks for this poem, Sunny! Once again, you have some great work.

I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

You were a lucky girl to have had that much time with your respective grandparents! They enjoyed long, full lives, and from the looks of your family picture, they produced an exceptionally beautiful happy family. You know, first hand, how important it is to have grandparents. Too many people miss out on that!! Thank you, my friend.......give Alexander a hug!!

Oh, thank you so much!! The beauty lies in the reflection of my Grandmother's memory. She was an angel, and her beauty lives on in my heart. Thank you!
