No explanations needed
I've long since conceeded
having agreed
in essence to be me
there in black & white
do read it
It's  all quite past
do let it go
move along,
over, the show
lest your need
for vindication
all alone
in your small nation
with planted weeds
that over grows
in your heart,
or conscious mind
coloring black
your valentine
no happy days
with thoughts like these
plotting, scheming
viciously
assessing ways
to employ
a means inwhich
my life, destroy
anything inwhich
I might find pleasure
serving me bitterness
measure by measure

Thin line it is
between love & hate
from heaven's door
& hellish gate
from me to you
and you to me
your thoughts
are "here" so constantly
unimportant, tho I be
according to you
concerning me
or the we, that
used to be

See...

I'd let go
when it hurt me so
to be quite near
until the spear
you jabbed inside
aimed at my pride
cut through my heart
with a precisive art
I bled, I cried
amid truth, lies
I'd begged, then tried
to clear the skies
but you didn't care,

I swear...

Only time
was on my side
& thus I won
for my life's begun
anew...  but you
still wish me pain
to again, lay slain
by your design
yet, still you pine
so in your haste
you follow me here
to find one simple
truth, my dear
YOU languish miserbly
within the past
wishing somehow
to hold me fast
with fragile chains
so full of rust
in dingy dungeons
where failure's a must
I've learned, paid dearly
for my mistakes
still, I feel
the faintest ache
but do not mourn
nor dare to grieve
you, nor the others
I'm granted reprieve
so I say with neither
tear nor cry
farewell, good bye
farewell, good bye...

Listening to every heart

from line
to line to
line you
entwined
my heart
and the ache
leaves
me
hurting...

R.T., thank you...

I'm left in awe of the power you wove into
the lines of this pain and heartache...so
delicate yet with the strength of lover's
chains that bind then can only rust and
break...excellent writing!!

R.T. do I understand this all so well...yep, you've poured it all out here just like I would have if I could have thought about it long enough, but I'm not thinking much these days. Thanks for the message.

Sunshine, thank you for commenting. This poem is about a painful event in my life. I was afraid I'd get no replies because of it's length. So, thank you again...

Butterflies_don't_cry, thank you so much. You've summed up how I felt in one short paragraph. As you know, a poet or writer is even more so appreciative when the reader actually understands what is being said. Thanks again!

Passing shadows, Thank you for you for taking the time to comment! I've been to visit your site... very, very nice!  *smiles*

R.T. I am glad this popped back up...no one should be afraid to read long poems...they offer SO much...

so I am back for a re-read, and an entry into my library...

Measured by quality this is exquisite! Measured by quantity, it is equally so. The length of a poem doesn't matter, it's the heart that does.

You led us down the spiral staircase of a painful part in your life. I'm so glad that in the end you could lead us back up again. Very nicely done.

this is amazing ...
so much expression...
excellent purge of emotion...with such depth
very well written...
I hope you find your release and healing in your writing ...
this offering speaks to that question well.
take care

Hi again, this is phenomenal. What a story, and your use of words makes it that much better.
(I'm glad if he wanted more, and it was too late!)

this is a very beautiful poem loved every line, There is always an ache that sometimes you wish would disapear, My hope is one day it will be filled with a power of love.
