Turkey On a Fence
Virginia Salter

There’s a turkey on a fence
lot’s of people think he’s dense
but dieting is his forté
he has always gone that way.

Svelte and silky is his bod
should have seen him at Cape Cod,
all bikini clad was he
as he sailed right out to sea.

Corn and grits without some butter
yeoman’s tunes he’d never utter
for if you saw him ‘fore Weight Watchers
you’d have seen his ample stature.

Then when Thanksgiving hit the shores
you’d scramble after on all fours
he’d not have a prayer at all
of escaping thunder maul.

Other birds like him are gone
for they sat too tightly on
perch with food to fatten well
then lost their heads when fall had fell.

Do I need to apologize for this one??? ;o}

I can only think of Kellie from Papa's and she goes by Dreamkeeper.  I've only seen her once when she replied to mine.  I've not read very many different poets here yet so there may be more form there.  I usually try to read the ones who've had 0-5 responses first.  Then I've ended up running out of time, etc.

I really goofed on this one.  I posted a favorite of mine and this one on the same day.  They've gotten pushed way down the board on inside pages.  This one's the only one commented on and you're the only one.  Thank you so much for the read.  I do wish I could hear from people about "History?History."

Anyway, where's one of yours?  Title, current page?
