I’m Havin’ a Toerag Day

Don’t feel much like writin’ nothing serious today
At least no one will know what I’ve been tryin’ hard to say
So I’ll just write a poem that flows real easy on the page
In that slow molasses syntax that just ripens more with age

I think I’ll bug a friend or two, or maybe just bug one
But I’ll get back at good ole deer before the job is done
And no one will suspect the thoughts that run deep in my brain
Cause those are things I choose to hide and there they will remain

Skippin’ stones is just my way of passin’ time away
With every toss a hardened thought skips happily away
And no one knows the light and dark that’s runnin’ through my head
They only see me get up on the right side of the bed

And that is true, to me each day I live is like a treat
But I don’t sleep when someone else has nothin’ good to eat
And I’m the only one I know, can walk in someone’s shoes
Cause I’ve already been down every alley that you choose

So here’s to life and here’s to love that runs within my veins
I never was a man to stop by pullin’ back the reigns
I’ve got a need to keep my eye upon that freedom trail
And yet a pretty woman soothes that part of me that’s frail

All brilliant thoughts and intellect I keep inside my pen
I’d rather make somebody smile and make a poet friend
That’s just my personality, to make somebody laugh
And many never stop to recognize the other half

No one knows what secrets lie inside those skippin’ stones
Except for that old Lizzie, who can shake me to the bones
Don’t know why that woman loves me, but it seems she takes a shine
To those who’ve lived life fully and stay ripened on the vine

Liz

Absolutely wonderful Liz! You have such an incredible way of weaving so many beautiful thoughts together. Toerag is so fortunate that you read so deeply into his words ... seeing the beauty and wonder through your eyes and presenting it to all, is a treasure. I really enjoyed this Liz!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Yanno?, Dear Lizzie has always kinda been able to read into this very warped mind and sense of humor of mine....then again, she does know me pretty well too from past emails and times I was pretty down.....but with that said, I'll now say this...there ain't person here I can think of that can put thoughts into words, or, make words that can make thoughts by others much better than this gal........

Bingo!  You tapped Toe just so!

If I whisper, will you listen?...
I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

Once again, you've proved that your talent is matched only by your insight. *S* A beautiful depiction of a beautiful person!

Ethome, Toe is a great man to meet, but unfortunately I never met him. Thanks for commenting

Kit, I don't know about the poem, but I know a good man through his words

Toe, I never saw anything warped about your mind. You are the only one that sees things differently. My problem with your mind is I can't reach that high

Sy, I'm as crafty as a fox

Kethry. I wouldn't dare shake you to your bones. You're much too pretty

Sunshine, WOW! First time I ever won at Bingo

Suthern, I know a good man when I see one and I also know a pretty lady when I see one, inside and out
Glad you liked the poem

Liz, we'll set up a booth for you over there in the corner and you can tell us all about our inner selves..I think you hit this Toe on the head with a nail..or something like that. And in your own wonderful style!

I loved this, it was so foot-stompin good!
