You are a loving brother
Who cares about family ways
We spent 19 years apart
Separated by miles and jobs.

I left for the military right out of high school
From there I traveled across the USA
God had his plans in mind when this occured
We both have had our troubles in the past
Now we are close by each other at last.

Our lives have seen good times and bad
At times we both have been sad
Now that you are home at last
We can forget about the past.

I write this poem for you  today
To show you how I feel
It is my way to say
Having you as a brother is a wonderful deal.

Cathy, what a wonderful gift for your brother, truly is wonderful. You have written this so lovingly and well, and you have done a fine job. And I must say he deserves a tribute, however one from his sister has got to be the height of love. Beautifully presented and such a great write. Congratulations on having such talent to write and on having someone worth writing about. I've only got sisters, and I would have many times swapped them for a brother. (Besides a brother wouldn't have nicked my make up, clothes and anything else that wasn't nailed down. Well he might I suppose, but it's unlikely!)
Take care

What a lovely sentiment you have displayed here Cathy.  Mark is indeed a very special person and now I can see it runs in the family.

Cathy, this is a wonderful piece to write about the caring and sharing that children who have seen bad times can band together and be there for each other.

so very kind of you to share this with us...

no one here would question that Mark's a great guy - and with this poem - we've now established  that his sister is great too - as a sister and as a poet.

Cathy, this wonderful.  I have only begun to know your brother through his writing, but what I have seen so far I like very much.  Nice to see that it runs in the family!
