One day when I'm beautiful
When my scars are gone
Will you then reach out to me
Touch me with your song

One day when I'm gorgeous
When the skin is healed
Will you then return to me
By your love annealed

One day when I'm pretty
Maybe then I'll hide
The scars in personality
Buried deep inside

Kethry, your beauty is incandescent, it shines with the beauty of a pure soul. Your worth is beyond measure, for the gifts you so freely give. Your spirit is sacred flying high and free. One day is now and look what I can see.
This is an amazing poem, you are an amazing woman and I thank you for this beauty.

Brought tears to my eyes......I think we all feel like this at different times in our lives......Your first stanza, especially, is outstanding.  Spoken with a gentleness quite touching.

Keth... this one touches deep.
I relate all to well to this ones emotions ...
and I think we all feel this way sometimes, but when old ghosts and scars stay with us
it does take its toll on ones self esteem
but that is one of the true gifts of poetry
we are all beautiful by our words allowing our souls and heart to let the real "us" be seen.
very well written and expressed piece from your pen.
take care

Kethry, all of your beauty comes from your heart, naturally...today...

One day when I'm beautiful
When my scars are gone
Will you then reach out to me
Touch me with your song"

you deserve the song before the healing, the song heals.

One day when I'm gorgeous
When the skin is healed
Will you then return to me
By your love annealed

Real love waits for no day, in this poem, which broke my heart by the way, love seizes the day for no day is promised to us!

"One day when I'm pretty
Maybe then I'll hide
The scars in personality
Buried deep inside"

True beauty shines through verse, for it is there that scars mean nothing and the further down you dig for the words, the more meaningful and beautiful they are and the most lasting, unlike scars which only remind us that we are usually alive because of them.  This moved me greatly.

"When red-haired girls scamper like roses
over the rain-green grass,
and the sun drips honey.""

If I Wait
For The Moment Perfect
Would I Reconize Its Dawn

If I Linger
In Pasts Gone Astray
Could I Hear Tomorrows Song

If I The Mirror
Believe Only What I See
Should I Ever Become My Dreams

Knowing Only I Decide
What Is Meant By
Me

K, I must second all those opinions, as I know you are beautiful right now, and anyone who doesn't see it is a damn fool!

Kethry, a wonderful poem. There are many kinds of scars and imperfections, whether visible or not, and with them many doubts. It is up to us to allow the truth of who we are to emerge and lead us to tomorrow, by way of today. Excellent writing, my dear!
