The bombs are showering confetti
In the western evening sky
And the colors were the finale
That we hoped would never die

The ash on my jacket’s molding
Rainbow’s vibrant suckling hue
Flower blossoms strike atoms might
We shout that love must ensue

As I step from the past unsteady
In the Mirrored Hall of Maze
The savored secret that life was all
This light amongst the haze

The whirling thunder of crash mixed in
Crescendo with pseudo-doom
And all of the lover’s cries beat out
Swept away with the hourglass broom

Here the gusts of war make love
Will lovers soon unite?
The finale’s just the beginning
The fallout’s a wondrous sight

The Finale is indeed just the beginning... Through the fallout, of course, is a wayout way of looking at things..

Walt~
You are such a flower-child ...
This just explodes into memories -

'The savored secret that life was all
This light amongst the haze'

Ponder of wonder.

wayoutwalt,

Your poem contains quite a few great lines.

"And the colors were the finale
That we hoped would never die"

"The finale’s just the beginning
The fallout’s a wondrous sight"

Excellent.

A nice metrical form, Walt. Your moral, patriotic and yet sardonic "voice" rings loud and clear in this lively, cerebral and sober piece of writing. Good work, very powerful.
