Ocean Watching

Just before twilight
Just before sunset
We sit on the sand
Watching the sea
Watching the waves
Make a gentle roll to shore
And a soft break on the sand

Whispering
Fingers twining
Sitting close

We've dismissed the world
Thoughts only
Of what brought us here
Only now,
Only this moment

The sun's depth
Adds color to your face
The chill air
Huddles us closer
Friends, but more

Our kiss is deep
Sweet breaths mingle
The taste ambrosia

You fill my eyes
My heart
My hands

We blend
In liquid profusion
As the sun sets fire
To the sea

At twilight
At sunset
We sit on the sand
Watching the waves

There are places inside our souls -
that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.

Congrats Mr. Yeats on being the first to post here....many shall follow in your shoes....

and I think I am becoming tiresome to you in stating "well done, Sir"...but I shall, anyway...

well done on a poem that brings back lovely memories...

Bill, there is no place I'd rather be
than sitting in love by the sea.......

oh you capture my love of the sea, the romance, the peacefulness when sitting there.....just listening.  Well done my
friend.  *s*

Great poem Mr. Yeats.  I think probably the lines..."we sit on the sand, watching the waves" are a whole story all by themselves.

Bill--watching the sun set into the ocean is one of life's greatest pleasures, and to do it with one you love...ah, tis magic.  Beautifully written!
