I find myself faced with letting go
how exactly I'm supposed to do that
I have no idea.........
How do I tell my heart to stop loving you?

~*~

I've loved you for so long now,
it's become a part of me
a part of who I am
like the color of my eyes

~*~

Letting go of loving you is like trying to figure out
how not to breathe.....and still stay alive
How to cut out a piece of myself
and still remain whole and intact

~*~

But lately, loving you has started to hurt me
I've tried to be understanding
I mean, that's what friends do, right?
You told me you loved me, yet you show no signs of that love
..........of friendship..........

~*~

I find myself faced with letting go
but this painful slap of reality ~ this knowing
doesn't hold any answers ~ only questions
How do I tell my heart to stop loving you?
I have no idea

Sea,
sometimes
you
can't

and it is then
that we will hold you
and understand

Someone much wiser than me said:
You must set them free and if they love you they will return.

This requires the strength to let go and the strength to have patience.  Not to mention endurance.

You have whatever it takes to get the job done ... your writing says so.

God bless and keep you in the palm of His hand.

Circe, love, anything I can do? Well you know where I am if you need a shoulder to wail on. I'm very good at support, and sympathy I can do that to. Wonderful write of yours, utterly wonderful. I can feel the confusion, and the pain too.
Take care

Circe, I'm here, you don't have to explain, just let the feelings flow. Which you can do I know I've always said your works are brilliant. Send me an E and I'll send you back my warm hugs and sisterly love. (And I won't tease you with apocryphal tales. I promise   )

We never let go completely of love, guess our hearts just keep on talkin' to us, instead of our heads talking.  Your pain and expression is felt and I hope you find peace.

SEA, one day I hope I have at least a tenth of the talent you do!!!

Letting go; the hardest thing in the world to do when you have given your entire heart...perhaps one never does learn to stop loving; but we merely change the way we love..

Sending you strength and healing energy, because, well, just because I care!!!

SEA-
   OUCH!!  I can certainly relate
   to these painful feelings...
letting go can be an extremely
   difficult and seemingly impossible
thing, but sometimes it is the best
   thing for all concerned...and once
in awhile, when you let go, the
other person will miss the tightness
of your grip and will hang on tighter
   than they ever did before.
whichever way this works out for you,
   i wish you the best.

   big hugs to you,
   -vicky

When you find out, would you let me know?  I'm sure there is a way, but we poets just don't know it, do we?  (Or, at least, this sentimental sap poet doesn't!)
Very touching piece, SEA, as it hits home lately.  Love it!

Sea* Your heart and a tear were woven into
each line of this...When we reach the point
that hanging on...or letting go are equally
painful...there seems to be no right thing
to do...all you can do now Sea...is be true
to you. *Hugs* for healing and sunshine to
kiss your life~

sea..its true what they say--about if you love something let it go..if it comes back to you, it is yours--if it doesnt, it never was..

i can relate to this..letting go is not one of my strong points..but i've learned much from each time i let go..learned much...    its one of those things--you do it once, you see what can happen..you trust that what happens is what should happen...and you learn to smile again..   let go..and let the world keep spinning..

good luck..

Dear SEA,

Your poem touched me much.  Very hard to let go, but if this person isn't esteeming your love in highest respect and expressing mutual feelings back anymore then you deserve better.  It's like good poetry --it just doesn't deserve bad feedback! I can't know what kind of a relationship it is, its none of my business, but hopeing things will look up for you and that hearts always open enough to still hold onto friendship, even if it was once more than that at one point.

Take care always

Interesting that you should ask this question because when the pain exceeeded the desire it changed my thinking on this matter and I was finally able to began the process of letting go....in effect I was removing myself from the source of the pain...James
