Why poets fly

Words of the poets fly about
In verse and rhyme and free line pout
Fly arrows tipped in shameless shame.
Light lights of fire with passions flame

Yet some will sing us lullabies
To drape our fears and cloud our eyes
Make webs with fancy golden threads.
Make dreams of hosts and feather beds

Words of the poet write of time
With dance macabre and pantomime.
Ghosts, phantoms and will-o'-the-wisp
Curtains, veils and fairy tale mists.

Shoe you with seven league boots
Play you songs on angel flutes
Cloth your soul with fantasy
Breakfast you on ecstasy.

Fly near fire to catch a spark
To light a candle in the dark.
Come so close they often scorch
Many have turned into a torch.

Brave it gladly, this if and when
Their only weapon ink and pen.

The Sage provides yet another keepsake
of pearls, one more strand 'round my neck,
and places all in the company
of those who would sing yet one more round with me...

and sigh with Sy all the way...to heaven...

Your gift of cadence is keeping time ...
hear the rhythm ... hear the rhyme
hear the beat of wisdom divine ..
then hear the beat of this heart of mine.

Sy* This is magnificent...The heart of a
poet creats beautiful sights for us to see,
tears for us to share and love for us to
feel...I thank you for allowing me to fly
with you through your poetry.  I'm never
disappointed by the journey upon the wings
of your heart and soul~

Thoroughly enjoyed this poem, beautifully written, the flow is perfect, and it very accuratly expresses what makes a poet fly.  Nicely done.
