When the only thing that matters is gone
and there’s nothing here to keep you
When the love that gave you reason to live
takes wing and has left without you

When the sun that kept you warm has set
and the stars no longer twinkle in the sky
When there’s no one there to hold you
and all you can do is sit alone and cry

When the rain won’t fall so you can dance
and the rainbow won’t form so you can follow
When the night songs no longer play
and the lump in your throat won’t let you swallow

When the petals of a rose no longer bloom
and there’s nothing left here but the pain
When the light in your eyes no longer shines
and all you can do is scream out in vain

When luna’s soft glow blinds your eyes
and the caress of desire has turned to ice
When the hands of time no longer move
and fate squeezes your heart like a vice

What do you do when the hope dies
and the sun no longer kisses you at dawn
Leaving your soul void of life and love
so alone...when only thing that matters is gone

The one that matters most just wrote some of the finest verse I've ever read.

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.

You sure wrote a beautiful collection of the reasons why everything that matters affects a person...and the comparison to what it would be like without these things was right on! I loved the metaphors and illustrations...very nice writing......ethome

When all that matters, seems to have faded away, just begin to renew, the cycle that wants to bring you down, and fight to recover the beauty of the night, the beauty of the rainbow, sometimes I know it's so easy to give in to the gloom, but the happiness is by far better, this was such a beautiful poem no words can say how it conveyed such beauty, and reminds me of what is there though sometimes covered up in the sadness that surrounds us, but sometimes smile just because there's no reason, and maybe just for a second you'll remember the twinkling stars.

Touching & beautiful bdc.  As I always preach, we cherish the memories...and move on, not the easiest thing to do, but the necessary thing to do.  Memories nuture. Hanging on just causes suffering, needlessly.

Or to put it another way...crying in your beer get's you watery beer; but remembering how good it tasted, makes you lick your lips!

Holly--

few poems affect me the way this one
did. something about how it just reached
out to my heart brought tears to my eyes.
a beautiful poem you have penned here.
when all that matters is gone, you look
deep inside your beautiful heart and see
the love that still does remain. sometimes,
life is so painful we think we can never
move on...but we eventually do with the
love of friends and the strength within
us. as always you have touched my heart.
God bless you!
Love ya,
~amy~

Butterflies,

"What do you do when the hope dies"

You hang in there, cold as the mornings are.
You hang in there, keep fighting.
You hang in there, the smiles will return.
I am with you all the way.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

Whoa.  This really touched me!  You have an excellent write here, my friend.  Wow.  I'm suddenly at a loss for words, but this is so moving!  I can definitely sympathize with these feelings, too.  Absolutely loved it!
