When Death asked for Mortality

When Death asked for mortality
I offered mine outrightly
and in return I got from her
a gift of immortality

I took it with no hesitation
and the trade was quickly done
but after much passionate rejoicing
endless thoughts and misery begun

"...no single sound too rude
Upon thy slumber shall intrude,
Our thoughts, our souls- O God above!
In every deed shall mingle, love."

I noticed that it was a SHE who made the deal with you. I'm sorry that we wicked women have a way that you men just can't resist.  Enjoyed your poem

I couldn't help but catch that death was noted here as "she", makes it more interesting, thought provoking.
Great poem.

inot2B--Thankyou for your reply.  Death I made a female because well.. men don't reason before they do things more as much as women do, women always know things ahead of time.  Most personifications of Death are always male but things are just often not what you expect them to be.

dragonpoe--I like your handle.  Nice to meet.  Thanks for your kind comments.
