her walk has not always been
an easy one
there have been many detours
and things that have
stood in her path

but she has always prevailed
the shield of honor giving
her strength
when no one else would
even when the holder of that
shield departed this plane
it still protected her
showed her the way
gave her the will to go on

she still longs
and so the light has led
her here
given her new power
the power of her words
          the strength of her heart
                    the knowledge of her soul
in these and in other beings
     she grows again
          she lives again
               she loves again
and now
she is ready
ready
to hold the shield

I do not know this poet that well, but you have added insight to the lady, and her shield...

and you did it so admirably...

I too, know Marina only through her poems.  But what I have read echoes the thoughts shared here.  Well done.  You seem to know her well.

I only know Marina slightly, but what I know is beautifully portrayed in your poem. She is a strong woman..and puts her heart and soul into her poetry. She will love this!
