He gave her a rose, and it made her cry.
It made her cry, though he couldn't understand why.
He asked her "My dear, what did I do?"
"What did I do to bring forth tears from you?"

When she looked up to give her replies,
he could see the love there in her eyes.
She finally said, through a very soft sigh,
"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
"That is what made me cry."

He told her "My love, I just can't agree
that it's true." "The only beauty I see
is when I look at you." Then a smile
slowly came to her lips, and he bent over
to gently give her a kiss.

He whispered to her softly
"I love you so much, Lord only knows,
to me you will always be more beautiful
than a rose!"
