I Was Going To …

I was going to write a poem
of housework and its bores.
I was going to put my pen to paper
instead of doing my weekly chores.
I would lament the laundry,
my whites don’t seem so bright.
And the lack of ironing fairies
who would do that job overnight.
As for dishes, what can I say?
The pile on the sink gets so high
I’m sure some extra activity goes on
cause they just seem to multiply.
Feed the dog and take him for a walk,
do something about the bathtub ring.
Dust the shelves, vacuum the floor.
Oh, the list is never ending!
Like I said, I was going to write
until ‘Deer asked “how was your day”
reminding me of other’s plights,
so tell me, what more can I say?

I wish you every happiness and pray you'll always have the best of the good things in life. a brand

Well, Dee, I guess you can say thank God I have dirty dishes because there was food on them, thank God I have clothes to iron and thank God I have a house to live in....and to keep clean.

What I can say is....thank you for allowing me to inspire a poem!

Ron - I enjoy bringing a smile to peoples faces. Glad I did for you.

'Deer - Just wanted you to know that your poem had an effect on this little black duck!

Karilea - isn't it wonderful how a poem or even a throw away comment can inspire us to write something others enjoy. I think that's what I love most about this place, the inspiration.

Deee,
inspired writing here. I wish I'd written this, or something similar.

Kethry - Glad you liked it.
Thanks for the little nudge about not posting. Now when everyone gets sick of me they'll know who to blame!

Hi Tracie, you snuck up on me there! It's a real bummer when the ironing fairies go off to the pub or where ever they disappear to.

Dee...I read 'deer's poem this time round and I remember the last time he posted it too.
Powerful topic isn't it.

Suffering.

I'm surprised the world doesn't collapse sometimes with the weight of it.

Good work....

I doubt I would ever tire of your writing! And just how do I find those ironing faries, I've NEVER seen them at my place.

Severn - I enjoyed Deer's poem so much I had to answer it. It was great the way he got the point across without the heavy lecture. Hence the humour in my poem.

Eddie - Thank you. It means a lot to me that you feel that way about my writing. As for the ironing fairies, try the pub, they're probably down there with mine!
